Emergency Replacement of a Fallen Entrance Door Closer | From Discontinued Model to RYOBI S-205P

We received a request for an urgent replacement after a door closer installed at a client's parents' home came off, and the falling part hit a family member. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries, but the door closer was left in a non-functional state.

Providing an estimated cost based on photos

The client sent photos in advance, allowing us to check the condition of the parts and the mounting area. Since the existing product was discontinued and the manufacturer had gone out of business, we proposed replacing it with the RYOBI S-205P.

However, because the mounting screws had fallen out of the pilot holes, we could not determine the exact cost without inspecting the internal condition on-site. We explained that the total, including processing fees, could be around 40,000 yen, and we proceeded with the visit after receiving their approval.

Upon on-site inspection, we found that the existing pilot holes had deteriorated, which likely caused the screws to pull out and the unit to fall. We determined that we could safely install the new door closer by drilling new holes in a different position on the door, and we completed the installation using a cost-effective method. The work was finished in about 30 minutes.
