The Moment Your Heart Feels Lighter from FX Fatigue: The True Meaning of 'Resting is Also Part of Trading' and the Importance of Taking a Break
When I first started FX, I was so afraid of missing out on opportunities that I kept watching the charts almost every day. It felt like if I didn't keep running, I'd be left behind, and I even thought that taking a break was a 'loss of opportunity.' But then, it suddenly hit me. By constantly running like that, my heart was getting tired, and I was actually becoming less capable of making calm decisions. I once had a period where I lost confidence after a string of losses, so I decided to take a bold step and stop trading for a while. At first, I was really anxious, thinking, 'What if a winning opportunity comes up while I'm away?' But once I actually stepped away from the charts for a few days, my mind felt surprisingly lighter, and my vision became clearer. It was as if the noise that had been building up in my heart had simply vanished.
'Resting is also part of trading' is an old saying, but I didn't really understand its meaning until I actually tried it. Now, I understand it clearly. Taking a break isn't about being lazy or running away; it's essential time to get yourself back in order. Trading is heavily influenced not just by numbers and charts, but by your own mental stability. For someone like me, who is laid-back and easily swayed by emotional waves, I feel that taking a break from trading is especially important. Now, I intentionally make days where I do nothing, or I go to my favorite cafe, open my notebook, and organize my thoughts. By keeping a little distance like that, I'm actually able to face the market with a calm mind when I return.
If you feel like your trading hasn't been going well lately, it might be worth taking the plunge and stepping away from the charts for a bit. The market isn't going anywhere, and the view you see when you've regained your composure will surely look different than it does now. In FX, having the courage to stop can sometimes change your future more than just running forever. Please, take care of your own pace.
