Why you should be careful the moment you think you can 'definitely win' in FX
It's Kaerun here 🐸
When I first started FX, I had a streak of wins by pure luck, and there was a time when I felt a bit carried away, thinking, 'Maybe I'm actually good at this...' It was precisely then that I felt an unfounded sense of confidence, and I became convinced that 'I can definitely win.' But as for the result... I ended up suffering a huge loss.
Looking back calmly, that was pure overconfidence. The market keeps moving like a living thing, and there is no such thing as a 'definite' win, but my guard had been let down because of my winning streak. Having confidence is important, but when it turns into arrogance, your judgment becomes sloppy.
I have a laid-back personality and am naturally cautious, but when I keep winning, my spirits inevitably soar. That's why I felt it was necessary to draw a clear line in my mind that 'confidence and carelessness are two different things.' Since then, no matter how confident I am in a situation, I've made it a habit to think, 'Maybe the opposite could happen.' I believe that maintaining an attitude of not forgetting the risks is very important for avoiding failure. The market moves regardless of how I feel, so I think I can make calmer judgments if I keep telling myself to 'stay cautious' at all times.
In FX, I think 'how you discipline yourself' is more important for long-term success than the fact that you won. The moment you become overconfident might be the time you need the brakes the most. Having the courage to notice small feelings of unease and questioning yourself can sometimes prevent future losses.
There is no such thing as 'definite,' but you can always 'be careful.' I am still learning every day, but I would be happy if you, who might be struggling with the same thing, could adopt this perspective. Let's face it in our own way, without rushing and without letting our guard down.
