Most work is political activity, not economic activity
If we assume that economic activity is the act of making things, or taking care of people or things (or supporting those endeavors), I have realized that most of what we call economic activity is actually political activity. Today, I would like to talk about that.
So, what is political activity? I define it as the endeavor to realize a distribution of wealth that is convenient for oneself (or for someone specific).
For example, let's say beverage manufacturer A conducts sales activities to get their products on the shelves of a supermarket. When they succeed, the procurement costs that the supermarket was paying to another beverage manufacturer B shift to manufacturer A. By my definition, this is political activity.
Also, let's say manufacturer A launches a massive advertising campaign and steals customers away from manufacturer B. This, too, is political activity by my definition.
Of course, economic activity starts as a result of political activity. Manufacturer A sets up a system to increase production and produces tea or orange juice. However, the political activity itself is distinct from economic activity.
People involved in political activity tend to earn higher incomes than those involved in economic activity. It is common for copywriters at advertising agencies or sales representatives at manufacturers to earn more than double the income of operators working diligently on production lines or orange farmers.
However, by lumping endeavors that are effectively political activities into the same category as 'economic activity' or 'work,' we create the illusion that political activity is somehow performing production or care. I believe this is the phenomenon occurring in today's society.
Words are terrifying.
Of course, it is possible to think of political activity as being linked to some form of productivity. However, that is merely a forced connection. Since even the Emperor can be seen as contributing to production by stirring up people's motivation, anything goes at this point.
If you understand that your own activities are merely political activities to gain profit, perhaps the discussions surrounding bullshit jobs could be clarified a little.
Use the correct language. Since thought is limited by language, we must value the premises that words hold.
From now on, I want you to try thinking about economic activity and political activity separately. You will see just how overflowing the world is with political activity.
