[Short Story] Heaven and Hell
Grandpa, what kind of place is hell? Is there nothing to eat there?
No, that's not it. In hell, there is plenty of meat, fish, and rice.
However, you cannot eat unless you give the guarding ogre some 'Suki' (love/affection) as payment.
And the only way to get that Suki is to receive it from other people in hell.
That is why everyone is desperate to take Suki from others.
Yet, they refuse to give any themselves.
You cannot use your own Suki for yourself, but you can give as much as you want to others.
Even if they receive 10 Suki from someone, they will give back at most 5.
Because of that, ugly fights break out constantly over things like 'I gave them Suki, but they didn't give any back.'
Before long, they stop trusting anyone, and the amount of Suki they give and receive dwindles away.
Since they cannot eat, everyone is skin and bones.
Then, what kind of place is heaven?
It is the same as hell.
There is plenty of food, and if you give Suki to the guarding ogre, you can eat.
However, the people in heaven prefer giving Suki over receiving it.
When they receive 10 Suki from someone, they try to give back 20.
That is why heaven is overflowing with Suki, and everyone gets to enjoy delicious food.
Everyone trusts each other, and they all live together happily and in harmony.
That is heaven.
