A film that captures the joys and sorrows of life through a traveling clown and a woman, winner of the Silver Lion at the 1954 Venice International Film Festival and the 1956 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
The preciousness of unconditional love and
the foolishness of oneself realized only after it is lost, a perfect work that depicts these themes with a simple story and minimal characters.
Like many men, every time I finish watching it, I feel that "Zampanò is me," and I realize the precious things I have lost.
Zampanò's wailing is my wailing.
And I am encouraged by Il Matto's words: "If this pebble has no meaning, then nothing in this world has meaning."
An immortal masterpiece that will remain in film history.
