🎸 Blazing Jam — The Return of Jun OKUNO's Early Guitar Rock Trilogy🇺🇸

"It’s hot. That’s it." — That was the whole idea behind this album.

August 2024. A scorching summer day.
I was in an air-conditioned room, half-watching a summer music festival on screen.
The stage was burning, the crowd soaked in sweat, guitars roaring through the heat.

And I thought:
"If I ever had a band and played at a summer festival, this is the kind of music I’d want to play."

That’s how these three tracks were born.
A trio: guitar, bass, drums. I imagined myself on guitar and vocals, flanked by two highly skilled bandmates. Technical, tight, and made to get the crowd moving. That’s the kind of guitar rock I wanted to hear — and play.

🎸 Three Songs, One Setlist. That’s the Deal.

All three tracks have a similar feel — on purpose.
If you only get three songs on a summer festival stage, these are the three.
No room for MCs or theatricality.
Start strong, ignite the crowd, and don’t let up till it’s over.

The guitar is gritty, the drums are busy, the bass is alive.
It’s loud. It’s cool. And it’s exactly the sound I wanted.
As for the lyrics? It’s basically just me shouting "It’s hot!" over and over.
And that’s fine.
These tracks aren’t driven by emotion — they’re driven by temperature.

📉 It Flopped. Completely.

When I first released these tracks in August 2024, they went nowhere.

Meanwhile, my techno-oriented track Titanium Ghost—released at the same time—did reasonably well.
But Blazing Jam? Radio silence.

I know why.
More than 99% of my listeners are overseas — mostly in the US, UK, and Germany.
None of them are looking for guitar rock.

In today’s Spotify ecosystem, guitar rock is basically a fossil.
It doesn’t make it into playlists. The algorithm doesn’t like it.
Still, if I were to play a live show today, these are the tracks I’d want to perform.
No question.

🧬 Guitar Rock as a Personal Origin

Yes, my more recent work leans heavily into structured, electronic sounds.
But guitar rock? That’s where I started. That’s my foundation.

These songs might sound impulsive, but they’re carefully arranged.
Still, in the end, it’s the energy and drive that stick with you — not the structure.

So this re-release comes with a bit of defiance.
"I still think these songs are cool. Even if no one else does."
It’s a re-presentation, not a rework — a small act of self-affirmation.

🔥 About the Title

Blazing Jam — meant as in "an improvised session under extreme heat."
Of course, it’s not improvised, and it’s not a jam band.
But that feeling of heat and chaos bleeding into the music — that’s what I wanted the title to capture.

🎤 Final Words

I know guitar rock is dead, at least on the global stage.
But what’s the point of making music if you’re not playing the stuff you want to play?

These three songs are the set I’d still want to play live, today.
And if by chance, someone out there feels the same energy I felt making them —
then that’s not luck.
That’s music.
