What is the Age of Wind?

Moving from an era of vertical societies that emphasized hierarchy and materialism, to an era that values light, horizontal relationships, networks, and connections, just like the wind.

As the times change in this way, how will professions change?

AI has entered our lives, and it is said that many things can be done by AI.

I have been involved in interpretation and translation, and it is said that this too can be done by AI.

I used to feel afraid of that.

I thought, if my job is taken away, won't I be left destitute?

But looking back now, I think that way of thinking itself is very much like the Age of Earth.

The fear that if you don't possess something, you will lose out.

You don't have to possess things.

Because, if you think about it carefully, weren't we a bit tired of the engineers who kept developing new models forever?

Weren't we bored of hearing about this again?

Professions needed in the new era

Until now, we have needed titles like 'someone who does such and such'.

Teacher

and so on.

I think we are going to graduate from such titles.

Even if we use titles for convenience, I think our consciousness will change in that way.

Everything is an act of expression.

For that, titles will no longer be needed.

In the first place, when the way of working—eight hours a day, five days a week—is no longer common, I think it will become difficult to fit your individual self into a single title.

I think we are moving away from a society that tries to make you speak about your identity—as a working professional, a mother, and a wife—centered solely on social titles, as if those titles were everything.

That is a very free thing.

What is important for us now is to prepare for that time, because it is coming.

After all, Japan has valued everyone being the same.

We have been expected to wear the same uniforms, get married around the same time, and work in the same way.

There are many things for which we have suppressed our individuality.

Even if you are suddenly told that it is okay to show your individuality, you might find yourself at a loss.

It is said that when the Emancipation Proclamation was issued by Lincoln, most slaves stayed in the homes of the Westerners they had been with until then.

Since they had nowhere to go and no prospects for a livelihood even if they were suddenly freed, they reportedly entered into employment contracts with their former masters rather than remaining as slaves.

We are, of course, not slaves.

However, a time will come when we are even freer than we are now, so let us look forward to it and prepare.
