If you talk about next year, the demons will laugh
The date for my second son's wedding has been set.
He says they will hold the ceremony and reception at a venue in Tokyo.
Even though it's set, it's not until next spring, a year from now, but I went to my mother's house to report the news anyway.
My second son had passionately told me he really wanted my 87-year-old mother to attend the wedding, so I passed that on to her.
Honestly, neither I nor my mother know what will happen a year from now.
My mother said that taking the train into Tokyo is tiring, and she doesn't want to be a burden to those around her, so she thinks it's probably impossible.
Even as she said that, she looked somewhat happy.
It is true that riding the train for a little over an hour might be difficult.
When I suggested, "Why don't you just call a taxi from home to the venue? I'm sure your sister would accompany you," she replied that she would probably get carsick from being in a car for so long.
My mother's mind is sharp, and since she started going to a gym for seniors once a week, her body has become stronger and she has filled out a bit. She also has a tremendous appetite.
She is classified as needing Support Level 2, but I actually think she is Support Level 1.
I feel like she could go if it were now. It's a shame.
For now, we agreed to make staying healthy a year from now our goal, and we toasted with Kaga plum wine while enjoying our usual Okowa rice bento from Yonehachi.
