Why I Love LE SSERAFIM
LE SSERAFIM is not just another K-pop group.
With their "silent strength" and "unwavering will," they continue to give new meaning to what it means to be an idol.
In this essay, I would like to discuss why I am drawn to this group, from both a philosophical and emotional perspective.
LE SSERAFIM... I view this group not merely as idols, but as an ideological phenomenon.
They have adopted the phrase "IM FEARLESS," and while facing numerous headwinds, they have proven their existence through actions rather than words. Even amidst controversy and criticism, they have never once retorted emotionally, instead silently accumulating results. In that demeanor lies the true value of the "silent strength" of our modern age.
So, why was I drawn to LE SSERAFIM?
It is not because they are "perfect." Rather, it is because I felt true strength in their willingness to carry wounds, fear mistakes, and yet continue to move forward. Above all, each member possesses a distinct intelligence and aesthetic, and that diversity creates a miraculous balance.
Chaewon is not the type of leader who barks orders. However, she naturally brings the team together through her own posture and the atmosphere she creates. She shines confidently on stage and naturally sets the tone behind the scenes. That "power to lead through presence" is her leadership.
Sakura is like a lieutenant who supports the team with her wealth of experience and deep wisdom. She speaks when she needs to speak and steps back when she needs to step back. She brings the members' hearts together with that exquisite sense of distance.
Yunjin is a thinker who poses questions through artistic language and creativity. Her lyrics are permeated not just with emotion, but with sharp thoughts on the era and society.
Kazuha is a balancer who possesses both silence and the beauty of physicality, setting the mood of the space. With the sensitivity and focus cultivated through ballet, she radiates a quiet yet certain presence.
And Eunchae possesses the wit and natural ability to read the room that comes with youth. Despite being the youngest, her behavior brings brightness to the space and holds the power to save the atmosphere at times.
They transcend their assigned roles, moving freely while naturally compensating for each other's "gaps." This flexible and organic structure is the essential strength of the group LE SSERAFIM. Their charm lies not in the precision of an orderly machine, but in their living relationships. It is a world that can only exist when leadership and trust, responsibility and freedom are in harmony.
Furthermore, through this group, I have discovered a new way for "idols" to exist. It is an attitude of needing to be strong, yet not boasting of that strength. It is being natural and unadorned while striving to be beautiful. And it is the will to never let go of being human, even while being a product.
Such a way of being deeply resonates with my own life and values. I find beauty not in superficial glamour, but in the resolve found within silence. LE SSERAFIM is the symbol of that.
The reason I love this group. It is because, to me, they are art, they are philosophy, and they are the very hints on how to live.
