Works of art found on my commute
On my usual commute.
What caught my eye was
something that looked like a thread glistening in the morning sun.
I don't know if it was the work of a spider or a caterpillar.
Looking closely,
it was a truly magnificent structure.
There were several of them, as if they were covering the tree.
"Surely one creature couldn't have made all of this, right?"
I thought to myself, completely captivated.
There are many things in the world called art, but
insects aren't trying to create works of art.
They just spin their threads to survive,
just to get through the day.
And yet,
people find beauty in it.
And one more thing.
Near my office,
construction is underway for an APA Hotel scheduled to open in August.
The scaffolding has been removed,
and they are in the middle of exterior work.
Watching the neatly leveled concrete surface,
I found myself admiring it as well.
For the craftsmen, it is just their daily work.
But in that finish,
there is undeniable skill and beauty.
Both the spider web
and the concrete
were created not to be praised by anyone,
but to fulfill their purpose.
Even so, they move people's hearts.
Thinking about it,
perhaps the world is full of works of art.
