Because someone believed in me, I was able to believe in myself a little bit
Recently, while I was zoning out in the living room, my mother suddenly said something to me.
You're a good singer, so why don't you try singing?
In that moment, I felt incredibly happy.
I was happy that she thought I was a good singer, but even more than that,
I felt like she had seen right through me, knowing that I wanted to sing.
It felt as if she had discovered a feeling that was inside me, but one I hadn't been able to put into words clearly myself.
But, I think my mother was probably a little worried.
I have tried many different things until now.
I would say I wanted to do something, only to suddenly start something else or quit what I had said I would do before.
Maybe she was wondering if I would be okay, watching me like that.
Even so, my mother said to me, Why don't you try singing?
From there, my mother asked,
Are there any people around you who are in a band?
She asked me specifically.
She didn't just stop at saying, Singing is nice.
Maybe you should form a band?
Maybe you should enter a competition?
Maybe you should try writing songs too?
As we talked, my imagination just kept expanding.
Because my mother expanded my world
I thought, 'Oh, if I set my mind to it, I can do anything.'
That's how I felt.
If I had been thinking about it alone, I'm sure I would have been
'But I don't have the talent'
'It won't make any money'
'It seems like it would be hard to pursue it seriously'
I think I would have been looking for reasons why I couldn't do it.
Until now, I had given up on singing somewhere along the way.
Because I thought I didn't have the talent.
Even though I had the feeling of 'liking' it, when it came to doing it seriously, I thought I might not be able to do it.
I have been told by people around me that I'm good at it.
But I don't know if I was ever truly convinced myself.
I thought it would be very difficult if I did it seriously, and I didn't have the confidence to move forward alone.
But because my mother pushed me, I decided to try taking a small step.
Now, I've decided to touch my guitar for 15 minutes every day.
Today is only the third day.
I thought it would be better to start small and make it a habit rather than trying too hard all at once.
When I touched the guitar on the first day, since I had done it a little before,
'Surprisingly, it seems like it might take shape someday'
That is what I thought.
Of course, I don't have confidence yet, and there are times when I don't feel brave enough.
There is something I realized this time because my mother said it to me.
It is that there are people who value me more than I value myself.
When I think, 'Maybe I can't do it,' someone else says, 'Maybe you can, right?'
I learned that this gives me so much courage.
At that time, I was so happy that I almost cried.
I was happy that I was given a push.
And I thought that someday, I want to be able to believe in myself and move forward without needing someone else to tell me.
Right now, I don't have confidence, and I haven't made up my mind yet, but
starting with the small action of touching the guitar for 15 minutes, I want to gradually nurture the 'I want to try' that is inside me.
Is there something inside you that you think, 'I want to try it, but I'm scared'?
If someone said to you, 'Why don't you try it?', what would you want to challenge yourself to do?
