Weekly Short-Short Note: Pandemic Snow White #KofunSyndrome
Falling asleep and never waking up. A strange disease like that seems to be raging.
Unlike a vegetative state, there are no abnormalities in cerebral function; medically, they are simply sleeping.
"When it first started, it was called Snow White Syndrome, wasn't it? Though it seems to have been unified as Kofun Syndrome lately."
"Wasn't the main reason because it was confirmed to be caused by an extinct virus revived from a sealed ancient tomb?"
The assistant, who was skimming through medical papers, snorted. The attached images show patients sleeping inside life-support systems sealed like glass coffins to prevent the spread of infection. No prince has appeared to kiss them yet.
"And the fact that it's an infectious disease is also a big reason."
The professor, who had been sulking about not being able to do fieldwork, laughed.
"It's almost like they're sacrificing themselves for a journey to the afterlife, isn't it?"
"Did Japan also have a culture of burying attendants alive after a king's death?"
"It might have existed, or it might not have."
Look it up yourself, the educator's face smiled.
That is 410 characters; I have participated with this.
Ancient tombs are romantic.
