[Konosuke Matsushita] (Famous Quote) Decoding "Do not blame others for what you cannot do" using NLP.
──How to polish your "proactivity"
"It's my boss's fault that things aren't going well."
"I can't produce results in a situation like this."
Whether at work or in your private life, there are moments when you
just want to blame someone else, aren't there?
Konosuke Matsushita's
"Do not blame others for what you cannot do"
This quote may seem harsh at first glance, but it is actually
a password to lighten your heart as well.
Today, I will gently
unravel this quote from the perspective of NLP.
■ A common episode:
When you want to blame your environment
For example, here is a story about Person A.
・Person A, in their 3rd year of sales
・Recently, my numbers have been stagnant.
・I'm feeling frustrated, thinking, "It's just my area that's bad" or "My boss doesn't understand me."
One day, I complained to a senior I respect.
Mr. A
"My area is really difficult to work in.
If I were in a place with more accessible customers,
I could get results too..."
The senior thought for a moment, then said quietly.
Senior
"I see. But, tell me,
while assuming that 'the area is bad',
the best you can do right nowis everything
you can say you've fully done?"
Mr. A
"...Honestly, I might not be able to say I've done everything.
"
Senior
“Well, maybe you could start from there.
You can't change your area or your boss immediately, but
your own approach is something you can change starting today.”
With these words, A-san was struck by a realization.
This one remark made A-san realize something.
・Environment and boss → Do not change immediately
・Your own actions and ingenuity → Can be changed starting today
At this moment, Konosuke-sensei's words sink right into their heart.
“Do not blame others for what you cannot do.”
■ What is happening when viewed through NLP?
From an NLP perspective, this
mental shift was occurring for A-san.
① [Placing the cause externally] External cause frame
“The area is bad,” “My boss is...”
→ Placing all causes on the outside makes things easier for a moment,
but it makes the parts you can change yourself harder to see.
② [Meta-position] Taking a step back to look at yourself
Because of the senior's question, Person A
looked at "the self that cannot say they did everything they could"
a bit more objectively.
This is what is called in NLP
"Meta-position" (a bird's-eye view perspective).
・The self that is complaining
・The self that knows they can actually do more
③ [Reframing] Changing the meaning
"I can't do it because the area is bad"
↓
"Because the area is difficult, I will develop the power to innovate.
If I can do my best in the current environment, I will be able to succeed anywhere
"
Even if the situation is the same, by changinghow you perceive it (the frame),
the actions that become visible
will also change.
This is what is often called "reframing" in NLP.
■ Summary: Gently shine a light on what you can do
Konosuke Matsushita's
"Do not blame others for what you cannot do
is the rule"
This quote is
by no means it is all your own fault a phrase meant to blame yourself.
・Set aside what you cannot change for now
・Quietly shine a light on the one step you can change
yourself
When you can adopt that attitude,
people can move forward little by little,
no matter the situation.
If you have a day where things don't go well,
please try whispering this softly in your heart.
"What is it that I can do?"
That very question
is what we call in NLP the switch of agency turning on,
a gentle start, isn't it?
(^o^)
🩵That is all for now.
