Where is the Time Thief?
I have no time, and my schedule is falling behind.
Before I know it, I've been done in by a "time thief" lurking somewhere again today.
I can't keep up with the pace of life, and I've finally reached the point where I don't even know what's on my schedule or what I have in my own house...
I buy the same thing I thought I didn't have, only for it to suddenly appear about a month later from a drawer I happened to open.
"It was here all along!!"
...I scream in my heart, but no one is watching, and the fact that I'm the only one surprised in my heart—a situation that looks completely calm from the outside—makes it feel even more hollow.
I think to myself, "I should just get organized," but if I had that kind of free time, I'd rather sleep.
Unable to overcome this overwhelming desire for sleep, my room just keeps turning into a lawless zone.
Sometimes, I suddenly feel a flash of panic, wondering if this is an early symptom of dementia...?
No, no, it's just that there are too many balls I have to keep in the air.
It's okay, it's okay... I try to soothe myself.
Insurance renewals.
Picking up my My Number card.
Car maintenance and the dentist.
Deciding whether to attend events and functions.
I have to reply to that, I have to go here.
And while I procrastinate on how to handle my own affairs, I no longer have any idea what's going on.
The things I thought I'd "do all at once" on my day off pile up so much that I can't even finish them on my day off.
──It feels like I'm constantly being chased by deadlines just by being alive.
Anyway, in my rush to convey that I'm not ignoring anyone, I feel like I'm only ever saying,
"I'll get back to you."
And because I'm afraid of forgetting something, I keep checking my planner and calendar excessively.
Recently, I've even started to suspect that there might be appointments I forgot to write down in my planner or calendar.
In the midst of all this, I suddenly remembered Michael Ende's "Momo."
I'm being done in.
I'm completely being done in by the Men in Grey.
But, at the end of the day, is the true identity of the time thief "me" or "modern life"?
Either way, today is ending again before I have any time to crack down on them.
