Beautiful Cat 3: The Sparrow Incident
The Mystery of the Headless Carcasses
A few weeks after I rescued a white cat that had been tangled in a net, strange things started to happen.
One day, I was shocked to find the headless carcass of a sparrow in my garden.
At that time, I had been scattering a little birdseed in the garden, so quite a number of sparrows
had been gathering there.
I, who loved watching the sparrows every day, was shocked.
At the time, I never imagined that this would continue later on...
From that day on,
at worst, headless carcasses would be lying there day after day, and each time, I would bury them in the corner of the garden to pay my respects.
Sparrows had been coming to the garden for several years, and although there were some that had died from illness or other causes,
it was the first time I had seen such brutal carcasses.
Was it a cat...? Even so, I wondered why only the heads were missing.
Seeing carcasses with only the heads missing was tragic, pitiful, and it broke my heart...
Then one day,
I saw that white cat in the parking lot of a monthly rental apartment diagonally across the road.
The white cat was being fed something by a student-looking boy who lived in the apartment building in front.
Seeing him feed the white cat in the parking lot a few times, I thought he must be a cat lover, while
......
!
Could it be that cat? Is that cat the one killing the sparrows? It's a pet, right? Whose cat is it?
Come to think of it, the carcass incidents started after I saw the white cat...
From that time on, I began to suspect the white cat I saw every now and then.
As it happens, my husband is an extreme cat lover,
and even my husband started bringing things like chikuwa to tame the white cat.
As for me, because of the sparrow incident,
I used the dog I was keeping at the time to chase away the white cat that came around our house many times.
Even so, the white cat
kept coming, perhaps to get food from my husband as well,
but one day, I suddenly realized.
Since we started feeding the white cat,
I had stopped seeing sparrow carcasses...
One day, after I had started seeing that white cat almost every day,
when I opened the back door to take out the trash in the morning, the white cat was sleeping inside the neighbor's storage shed, which had the door left slightly ajar. (The shed had been open for a long time, perhaps because they forgot to close it.)
It's supposed to be a pet... but it's been around our house lately and has started sleeping in the neighbor's shed?
By that time, the boy who had been feeding it seemed to have left the apartment,
and the white cat had become completely attached to my husband.
I stopped seeing sparrow carcasses, and I have always liked cats anyway.
I stopped chasing it away and approached the white cat for the first time to pet it...
I was surprised ‼️
✨ That's all for today, and it will continue next time. Thank you for reading.
