Emo-Nights Galaxy Emotion Chronicles [Serialized Novel Part 2]

🌙 'Operation: Liberation of Light and Tears'
🚀 Descent
“60 seconds to landing.” Kou’s voice fell onto the bridge. The blue of the instrument lights brushed against Yu and the others’ cheeks, and the 'Emo-Crystals' in their chests pulsed faintly.
“...Hold it in. Now is not the time to lose control.” Yu pressed his palm against the heat of the crystal.
“Yu, your face. You look scared,” Ren nudged his shoulder. “You’re supposed to have your ‘positive face’ on before a sortie, right?”
Sena nodded briefly. “Don’t let your guard down. This is a planet that has lost its ‘heart’.”
“Everyone, deploy Emo-Shields. Beginning descent.” Kou’s instruction.
The hatch opened, and the four of them were sucked into the depths of the wind.
🌆 The City of No Emotion
The moment they landed, the depths of their chests tightened. The air was heavy. Even though the temperature was normal, it felt as if their hearts were sinking to the bottom of the water.
The streets were clean, and the cobblestones were polished. There were small white flowers in the flowerbeds, and the fountain drew a thin arc—yet there was no sound. Even though the water was falling, the sound of the water barely echoed.
The market. The piles of fruit were glossy, but neither the sellers nor the buyers opened their mouths. Only the faint sound of paper bags rubbing together fell onto the scene like dry sand.
Even when passing in front of the bakery, there was no scent. Instead of the smell of freshly baked bread, a faint scent of disinfectant remained in their noses.
The crosswalk. Even though the traffic lights changed colors precisely, no one hurried. Everyone’s footsteps were at the same interval, as if they were keeping time with a metronome.
The park. Two children rode the swings at the same speed. Their faces were forward, not smiling. The parents pushing them didn’t smile either. When a child fell, the parent just stood them up in silence.
Beyond the school fence, a teacher held a whistle in their mouth, but the whistle didn’t sound.
In front of the hospital. The patient on the stretcher didn’t move an eyebrow, and the nurse walked down the hallway with the same stride.
Even when the clock tower in the square announced the hour, no one looked up.
Small drones drew circles in the sky, and simple phrases were displayed on the bulletin boards on the walls.
《Tranquility is happiness》《Emotion Index: Stable 0.02》《Report violations to the Central Tower》
At key points in the city, gray pillar-shaped devices—Emotion Suppression Units—stood. A low hum pierced the depths of their stomachs.
“...What is this?” Ren gasped. “They’re running, but they’re not smiling...”
“They have voices, but no emotions.” Sena’s breath was cold, even though it wasn’t white.
Yu clenched his fist. “Is there anyone ‘alive’ here...?”
🌙 Encounter
—Chime.
A thin, silver sound opened a small hole in the membrane of silence.
Down the street. In front of a glass greenhouse, a girl stood. She held her long black hair down against the wind, and in her palm was a small silver bell.
Even though the inside of the greenhouse was filled with white flowers, they had no scent. The white was just white, lined up like a painting that had lost its smell.
Yu approached her naturally.
“...Are you okay?”
The girl didn’t answer. There was only the sign that her throat had trembled, but no voice came out.
Her lips formed soundless words. —Help me.
Yu’s heart jumped hard.
“...I see. You want me to help you, don’t you?”
Strength entered his fist. “I understand. I will definitely—save you.”
The girl’s eyes flickered faintly behind her expressionless face. Her trembling fingertips tugged at Yu’s sleeve.
Sena nodded softly. “Even if their voices are stolen, it’s still ‘remaining’. Inside this child.”
Kou looked at the thin fingerprint marks on the greenhouse glass. “Was she waiting for someone here...?”
The girl traced the direction of the tower with her finger on the edge of the greenhouse, then touched her own throat and shook her head slightly.
‘The voice is over there’—that’s what it looked like.
Ren smiled bitterly. “You’re good at gestures. Alright, the signal for ‘leave it to me’ is like this.”
He gave a thumbs-up with his right hand and grinned. The girl’s eyes widened for just a moment, and just a little bit, the depths of her eyelids softened.
Yu stepped half a step forward, shielding the girl from the wind.
(No matter what happens to this planet—this child’s ‘help me’ is the one thing I absolutely must...)
The crystal in his chest pulsed more quietly than before.
⚠️ Footsteps of Unrest
In the shadows of the alley, the rhythmic sound of metal scraping.
Gray masks, uniform strides—Zero-Gram soldiers appear in a line.
"Suspicious factor, target for elimination."
The inorganic voice fell coldly onto the cobblestones.
Yu gives the girl a quick look. "Stay back. I'll finish this quickly."
A bell rings faintly in the girl's palm—chime. That single note fell straight into the center of his chest.
—The "faint bond" that sprouted in the silent city is swallowed by a vortex of sparks in the next instant.
⚔️ Emo-Knights First Battle
The gray-masked soldiers charge all at once. Their movements are precise, but there is neither "anger" nor "fear" in them.
Yu steps forward and clenches his fists in front of his chest.
"—Anger is my weapon!"
🔥 《Emo-Crush Blazing》⭐⭐ (Area Shockwave)
Rage explodes from his fists, and a dark red ripple cracks the cobblestones. The soldiers caught in the shockwave are blown away all at once.
"Hehe... don't make me cry."
Sena readies her sword. Tears dwell on the tip of the blade, taking on a purple glow.
😢 《Tears Rebellion》⭐⭐ (Flying Tear Slash)
The slash flies as light, accurately cutting through the soldiers.
"Come on, come on! Let's go!"
Ren laughs as he spreads his arms.
⚡ 《Laugh Bomber》⭐⭐ (Laughter Shockwave)
His loud laughter turns into sound waves, blowing the enemies away in a blast.
"Enemy output is low. They're small fry."
Kou's terminal emits a blue light, and marks appear on the soldiers' weak points.
⚙ 《Brain Code》⭐ (Analysis Support)
"Yu, the left joint is brittle."
"Got it!"—Yu's fist hits home, and the soldier scatters into metal fragments.
Dozens of soldiers collapse, and silence returns to the cobblestones. But—
🌑 Gray-Ark Appears
"I see... the power of emotion. Truly vulgar."
With a low voice, the air in the plaza freezes. The suppression officer wearing a gray cloak, 《Gray-Ark》, descended.
The moment he spread his palm, a gray wave covered the city.
🌑 《Emo-Break Field》⭐⭐⭐ (Emotion Blocking Wave)
Yu's fists lose their heat, and Ren's voice trembles and fades. Even Sena's sword turns a dull, cloudy color.
"Damn it... my anger... is disappearing...?" Yu falls to his knees.
"The emotions you harbor are a disease. I am merely curing them." Gray-Ark's voice is a blade without emotion.
😱 Crisis and Emotional Liberation
Yu clenches his fists, but no flames appear.
"Why... I'm angry, so why won't my power come out!"
Sena shouts, "Yu, don't just be angry! Look at the feelings deep inside!"
Images flash through Yu's mind—Lily's small hand gripping his sleeve, her trembling plea for "help."
"I want to protect her... I want to save her... That feeling is anger too!"
🔥 《Emo-Crush Rebellion》⭐⭐⭐ (Awakening Shockwave)
His fist, having regained its flames, splits the ground and shatters the suppression field.
"I knew it, you're at your best when you're fired up, Yu!"
Ren shows a smile of revival.
⚡ 《Joy Spin-Blade》⭐⭐⭐ (Rotating Sonic Slash)
He cuts in like a whirlwind, shattering the gray armor.
Sena also forces back her tears. "Crying... is not a weakness!"
😢 《Sorrow Veil》⭐⭐⭐ (Barrier of Tears)
It envelops her allies, protecting them from the suppression waves.
"Analysis complete. Weak point is the chest crystal."
⚙ 《Tactical Jammer》⭐⭐ (Interference Wave)
Kou's interference ripples out, and the Gray Ark's armor wavers for an instant.
"Now!" Yu and Ren exchange a glance.
🔥⚡ Combined Technique 《Fire Jokers》⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Flame-Sonic Tornado Assault)
Yu's flame fist and Ren's sonic waves fuse, becoming a tornado of explosive fire that swallows the suppression officer.
"Guh... to be defeated... by emotion...!"
The Gray Ark drops to its knees and vanishes as a residue of ash.
🌌 The Miracle of Emotional Liberation
At that moment, the tower's suppression unit shatters with a roar.
—A ripple of light rises to the heavens, piercing through the gray sky.
The white flowers in the flowerbed regain their color. Red, yellow, blue. The sky returns to azure.
The market fills with the scent of fruit, and the smell of bread spreads through the town.
People who had been looking down press their chests, tears streaming down their cheeks.
"...Ah... I'm crying..."
"I never knew the sky was this beautiful...!"
An old man hugs his grandchild, and the children all burst into laughter at once. Birds circle the sky, and bells ring out.
The entire planet—begins to play the sound of being alive once more.
At the center of it all, a single tear runs down Lily's cheek for the first time. A bell chimes, and the sound melts into the light.
Seeing that tear, Yu lowers his fist.
"...Tears... are they always this warm?"

🌌 Enter Zerogram
Flowers bloomed, the sky regained its color, and people wept as they embraced one another.
Yu and the others watched over them, letting out a deep sigh.
"...We finally saved them."
As Yu rang the bell held tightly in their hand, a clear, cool sound spread through the night sky.
That was the moment.
--In the sky, a giant black "eye" opened.
The void shimmered like a monitor.
Countless numbers cascaded down like a waterfall, and thousands of waveforms intertwined to form a single "image."
It looked like a human face, then a machine's, but in the next instant, it collapsed again, swallowed by mathematical formulas and noise.
The people who had just returned to the city fell silent once more.
Its presence carried a coldness that froze emotions just by being seen.
"--Emotion, observation complete."
Voices layered upon voices.
The voice of an old man, a young girl, a soldier, a mother... every human voice echoed and overlapped simultaneously, eventually converging into an inorganic mechanical sound.
"Laughter. Tears. Anger. Love. ...All of them are the same noise."
Yu and the others gasp.
"Humanity once lost hundreds of billions of lives due to emotions. Wars, betrayals, rampages.
We compiled the statistics. And we reached a conclusion--"
Silence covers the city once again.
"Emotion is a disease."
At those words, Sena shed tears unconsciously.
But even that was reflected only as a sneer to Zero-Gram.
"Emo-Knights..."
The moment that name was called, countless surveillance feeds opened deep within the monitor.
People dried up on a desert planet.
Soldiers frozen solid on an ice planet.
Children silent as if drowned on an ocean planet.
This was the current state of the "galaxy that lost its emotions."
"You are beings who are spreading the tumor that was once excised."
"Anger, sadness, joy, and love—they will eventually turn into hatred and stain the galaxy with blood once again."
Yu clenches his fist.
"…Don't mess with me. Emotions are… proof that we are alive!"
But Zerogram's voice does not waver.
"We will observe your journey as an 'experiment.'"
"We are sending a suppression officer to the next planet. …Let us see how far the disease called emotion will spread."
Noise rings out for a moment, as if tearing through the ears—
"And in the end… we will surely return you to 'emotionlessness' by our own hands."
The void monitor vanished as if it had burst.
What remained was the city of Luminaria, which had regained its color once more.
However, in the hearts of the Emo-Nights looking up at that sight, a cold premonition was deeply etched alongside the lingering echoes of victory.
📖Narration:
“Thus, hearts returned to one star.
But at the same time, from the edge of the galaxy—the gaze of the ‘true enemy’ had begun to focus.”
Epilogue: Lily's Decision ~The Grand Send-off~ Departure
Even after emotions returned to the city, the square remained filled with weeping and laughter for a while.
The wind carried scents, and the petals of the tower continued to open. When someone rang the bell, applause erupted from here and there.
At the edge of that circle, Lily stood.
On her cheeks, the traces of the first tears she had ever shed were shining.
—And then.
Her small mouth moved, trembling.
...Thank you.
A clear voice echoed through the plaza.
Yu and the others held their breath for a moment.
It was the first time anyone on this planet had heard Lily's voice.
The people were also surprised, turning around, and in the next moment, cheers engulfed the plaza.
Yu slowly approached, knelt down, and met her gaze.
...You were able to speak. That's amazing, Lily.
Lily nodded slightly and said "thank you" just one more time.
Her voice was trembling, but it certainly carried the resonance of "emotion."
---
Yu continued.
If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have won. You showed us the bell in the greenhouse, didn't you? And in the sewer, you pointed out Grayark's weakness. That changed the tide of the battle.
Sena nods as well.
"Your single tear resonated with my sword. In that instant, I felt like I saw a future where the city's colors returned."
Ren scratches his head.
"I had my voice taken away by the chains (Silence Chain: ⭐⭐☆☆☆). I really almost lost heart... but Lily's 'eyes' were saying 'don't give up.' That's what brought the laughter back."
Kou closes his terminal and says softly.
"To state just the facts, you created a 'turning point in battle' three times. The greenhouse, the sewer, and the plaza. ...But what decides things in the end isn't facts. It's your feelings. Whether you stay, or come with us."
Lily clenches her small fists and slowly looks up.
Beyond her gaze, families laughing together, friends hugging while crying, children waving their hands—the reclaimed world spreads out.
"...I want to go. I want to see more 'hearts' with Yu and the others.
But... there are still people on this planet who have forgotten 'how to laugh.' If I stay here and laugh and cry... I'm sure everyone will remember."
Her voice trembles slightly. Even so, her words are clear.
Yu remains silent for a while before exhaling.
"I want to take you with us. I really do. But—right now, you are the 'first sound' of this planet."
Lily unfastened a small silver bell from her chest.
The bell looked as if it were cradling a single light.
"This is for you, Yu. The sound of our promise. ...When I grow up—come and pick me up."
*Chime*—
The clear sound of the bell made the air in the plaza feel even softer.
Ren sniffled, Sena pressed at the corners of her eyes, and Kou quietly turned his face away.
"I've received it. It's a promise."
Yu cupped the bell in both hands and held it to his chest. "This is our banner. If we're about to lose, we'll ring it. So—you ring yours, too."
Lily smiled. It was awkward, but it was a genuine 'smile that existed right here and now'.
---
As the departure time drew near, people had gathered all along the main street before anyone noticed.
The flower shop boy came running with an armful of bouquets and handed them to Ren.
“Thank you, big brothers!”
“Heh, don't cry. Crying is Sena's job... ow, ow, ow, I'm just kidding!”
Sena nudges him with an elbow, and everyone laughs.
“This child is smiling again...” the mother cries out, hugging her baby.
The elderly raise their canes. “Thank you for reminding us of our emotions...”
The voices in line become like a chorus, and the call of “Emo-Knights!” spreads like a wave.
Kou nods quietly.
“I used to think gratitude wasn't necessary for statistics. ...I stand corrected. This transcends logic.”
Yu grips the bell and looks at Lily one last time.
Lily places her small hand by her eye and waves in a “see you later” gesture.
Yu nods back, holding up two fingers to signal a “promise.”
The hatch of the Emocion opens, and a ramp of light extends.
As the four of them board, petals are tossed into the air from both sides of the street, creating a path of falling flowers.
Someone says, “Come back again—heroes!”
Yu replies briefly over the speaker.
"I promise."
The craft lifted off, hovering just once above the city.
In that moment, Yu gently shook the bell.
Chime.
The sound rose high into the sky, spreading across all of Luminaria.
Voices, applause, laughter, and tears all answered at once.
Trailing a tail of light, the Emocion broke through the layers of the night.
Beyond the window, the star of flowers and poetry twinkled like a jewel.
Sena smiled faintly. "I'm sure we'll meet again."
Ren shrugged. "Of course! Next time, I'll make you cry even harder!"
Kou looked ahead. "Next coordinates: the Desert Sector. Are you ready?"
Yu touched the bell at his chest. "Yeah. Let's go."
Narration:
And so, Luminaria regained its "emotions," and the Emo-Knights set off on their journey with their promise in their hearts.
The galaxy is vast. But the heart is even vaster.
--To the next star.
