I got a takeout Sri Lankan bento from the rare Sanrasa, which is only open twice a month @ Higashi-Shinjuku Sanrasa
If there were a UMA (Unidentified Mysterious Animal)-like
curry shop
Question BoxSanrasa is famous for its interesting answers to the
and when I saw
"We're doing a Sri Lankan plate"
pop up on my Twitter timeline,
I thought, "I'm curious!"
so I reserved one via DM on social media
and went to get it.
Sanrasa.
After operating as a pop-up in Golden Gai,
they opened their own physical shop in December 2017,
and it's a popular curry restaurant.

I've had their food a few times
thanks to the connection we made at a Hen-ai Shokudo event,
but
I had the impression that their flavors were gentle and refined,
but what will this Sri Lankan curry
be like?
I'm looking forward to it!
Sri Lankan Curry Bento
1500 yen

Wow! It's so colorful and
looks absolutely delicious!

It's a bit hidden, but
the parippu has a nice spicy kick
amidst its gentle flavor.
Along with the eggplant moju that has just the right amount of acidity,
is there chicken in it too?

There's coconut-scented pol sambol,
beets, and the yellow one is dried tofu.
This is my first time having dried tofu
in Sri Lankan cuisine,
but it goes really well with it!

Sri Lankan Pork Curry

This is incredibly delicious!
It has a slight tang,
and when you bite into it,
the juicy flavor of the pork!
There's a slow-building heat too...
Sunrasa's
Sri Lankan pork curry is the best!
The flavor profile of each dish
was clearly defined,
and it wasn't just gentle, it had a punch too,
an exquisite Sri Lankan bento!
It's incredibly satisfying,
but you also get plenty of vegetables and protein,
so it's nice that it's healthy too.
On Tabelog, it's categorized
as Indian curry,
but Sunrasa keeps coming out with
all sorts of different curry genres.
I, Joyikko, have
eaten here three times now,
and it's interesting how it shows a completely different face every time, and it's amazing that it's always delicious!
I especially loved this Sri Lankan bento!
Unfortunately, this month in August, they are only open
for two days, the 18th and 19th,
so it's a high hurdle to clear, but...

I wish you'd do it more often
Apparently, they are currently supervising the SPICE CURRY DON
that appears in the Square Enix game,
NEO: The World Ends with You, and you can eat it at the collaboration cafe.
It seems to end on 8/27,
so if you're interested, hurry!
Also, for those who can't go, there is mail order available,
so I think you should use that.
Definitely give it a try~✨

A wonderful shop
that is like a UMA (Unidentified Mysterious Animal),
rumored to be seen but never actually spotted.
The answers in the question box are sharp,
but they are filled with love and kindness.
Waiting for you with various menus.
3-minute walk from Shinjuku-sanchome Station.
A shop of loving tsundere,
Sunrasa
