The Notion Library I Reached in 4 Years
Updated 2025/04/15
Good evening.
Recently, the number of people using Notion has increased, and
it seems like more people
want to master it.
As for my Notion history,
I've been using it for about 4 years now.
Task management
Reflection
Failure log
Idea notes
Reading log
Habit tracking
Profile/Portfolio
I do everything in Notion.
I'm not good at building functions, so
I arrange various templates.
▼ Pages I actually use every day

The top section is for daily tasks, habit tracking, and notes linked to LINE.
The bottom is for web articles, input/output management notes, and important memos.
The benefit of doing it in Notion is
being able to do everything on one screen.
There are apps for habit tracking, but
the fewer apps you have to open every day, the better.
I think it's efficient because you don't have to switch between screens.
(In the sense that if it becomes a hassle to open, it's pointless, so having it integrated with task management is also a big factor.)
If you want to understand Notion from scratch, it might be better to look at this first.
If you've been using Notion for a while, I recommend Tsuburaya-san (I'm a Tsuburaya-san fan).
So,
I think I'll share some of how I use it.
This time, I've turned my own library sheet into a template!
Purpose of the library sheet
I want to review books I've read in the past.
I want to be able to quickly look back at the main points when explaining them to others.
I want to check my recent reading habits.
I've been working on this steadily for 3 years to achieve these goals.
The actual page looks like this.
As your reading records accumulate,
You can browse by cover

You can browse by category

You can look back at your recent reading habits
(If I've been slacking on registering books, I sometimes add them all at once)

It truly becomes your own personal library.
How to use it (Super simple)
It's basically like this.
When you buy a book, click 'New' to start!
First, enter the title and author name.

Adding a book cover makes it easier to look back on later, so
copy the image URL from Amazon and...

Embed it as a link to create a beautiful gallery.

Then, just take notes according to the reading template.
Just click this reading template and read the book.

Before reading, write down your purpose to clarify your goal. (For novels, I often write about why I was excited or why I picked it up in the first place)
While reading, I take notes, jot down realizations, or take photos of things I've noted and paste them in.
After finishing, I write a summary and action items to connect them to sharing or real-world actions.

After that, manage your status roughly as Unread/Reading/Finished,
and it's good to look back at books you've read recently or by category when you have some free time.
Even if you don't manage it strictly, changing the status periodically
helps you notice books you might have forgotten about.
For example,
Oh, I was in the middle of reading this book!
↓
Why was I reading this again?
↓
Check the reason
↓
If it seems like you've already solved the problem, you can mark it as finished,
↓
or you can re-read it.
I think any personal rule is fine.
(I often look at the whole thing without filtering,
but you can also filter by 'Reading' status)
Regarding reading methods, I don't think you need to aim to finish every book.
As long as you get something out of it, that's fine.
Template URL
Please duplicate this and use it as a template!
I've left some book data in there for reference.
I think you should optimize the categories as you continue to use it.
(Please customize the small details)
If you use it, I'd love to hear your comments!
Daily input and output make you who you are.
By creating a second brain in Notion,
the feeling of being able to retrieve information as a database at any time is amazing.
Over 180 likes! Thank you so much! 😭
I'll also post some recommended books!
An archive for movies might also be good.
Check out my other templates too!
I hope this is at least a little helpful~
