Health checkups are very important!! Part 2: Chocolate Cysts
Hello! This is Emirabby.
As a result of skipping my regular health checkups, I ended up being hospitalized in an emergency due to severe lower abdominal pain.
Continuing from before.
After having an MRI for a more detailed examination, it was discovered that I have chocolate cysts.
It is called this because menstrual blood is not discharged and instead accumulates in the ovaries, taking on a chocolate-like appearance.
It is a type of endometriosis.
And, looking at the MRI images, I was told that the severe pain during my emergency hospitalization was not because of a torsion, but because the ovary had ruptured from too much blood accumulation.
Yeah... it was incredibly painful.
(Apparently, chocolate cysts rarely twist.)
Since there is no benefit to leaving it alone (as the possibility of it turning into ovarian cancer increases after age 40), I will be having one of my ovaries and fallopian tubes removed via laparoscopic surgery this month.
You really cannot tell from the outside what is going on inside your body.
I have had serious illnesses as a child, had a hard time in high school and ran away from home (though I had nowhere to go and returned the same day), started full-contact karate after recovering from my childhood illness, worked as a night-shift part-timer (though I have since retired—jobs that flip day and night are very hard on the body; I truly respect those who work night shifts), and have always suffered from headaches. I really felt that my body has been doing its best for me.
And now, reflecting on how I've been overeating since the morning, lacking exercise, and not getting health checkups, I realize I must take better care of my body from now on.
Regarding items needed for hospitalization,
my previous hospitalization was an emergency, so I couldn't gather everything properly and was really in trouble.
Since I was able to prepare slowly this time, I decided to write it down here.
I hope it helps someone.

With this emergency hospitalization, another thing I thought I should have been doing regularly was dental checkups.
Perhaps because I was clenching my teeth during various tests, I felt a sense of discomfort in my teeth, so I really felt that not only health checkups but also dental care is important.
Being healthy is not something to be taken for granted, is it?
I will make sure to get health checkups from now on!
I know you are all busy, but please make sure to get health checkups, and for women, please also get cervical and breast cancer screenings.
Early detection is important!
While there are many people in the world right now who cannot receive appropriate medical care, I am truly grateful to be able to have this surgery here in Japan.
Thank you for reading until the end!
