Marital Relationship💍 "I chose to be honest rather than hide things"
There was a major turning point in my relationship with my husband.
It was about the debt I had been carrying.
Even though I thought, "I'll tell him in my own time someday,"
he found out in an unexpected way.
Honestly, I was filled with guilt and fear.
"He might hate me."
"He might blame me."
Because of that anxiety, I had been hiding it somewhere in my heart all along.
But the words that came out of my husband's mouth were unexpected.
"There's no way I could hate you."
"It must have been painful to hide it. I wish you had just told me."
In that moment, I realized something.
That hiding it itself was an attitude of not fully trusting my partner.
That we had been pushing our true feelings onto each other out of anxiety and doubt.
How painful that must have been.
Now that I've been able to talk about it, my heart feels strangely light.
My husband also wanted me to be honest with him precisely because he wants to be with me.
That thought finally sank in.
Of course, there is no such thing as a perfect couple,
and there will likely be misunderstandings and small waves in the future as well.
But I want to choose to "be honest" rather than "hide" from now on.
I want to walk a path centered on sincerity, not dishonesty.
Having overcome that pain, I feel like we have finally become a couple that can talk about the future.
Here I am, able to smile and tell my husband that I want to go on a trip to Hokkaido.
