Back to Farm Work After a While

Pushed by the early summer light, my farm activities have begun again after a long break.
At 9:00 AM, the day's work starts in the quiet air.

Preserving Garlic and Onions

First, I hung the garlic that I had harvested and tied with string earlier, which had been drying in the greenhouse, next to the onions.
This is an important step to ensure proper storage while maintaining good ventilation.

Harvesting Overgrown Zucchini

When I went out to the field, the vegetables had grown more than I imagined.
The zucchini in particular had grown too large, just as I expected, and I am amazed by the strength of its vitality.

Even though the taste remains the same, the timing of the harvest is indeed important.
I reflect a little that if I had been a bit earlier, they would have been a more manageable size for cooking.

Status of Turnips, Beets, and Lettuce

Next, I harvested the red and white turnips.
Both had a solid weight to them, and I could feel that they were growing well.

The second batch of beets is almost ready for harvest.
The lettuce leaves have also spread out well, resulting in a sufficient harvest this time as well.

Afternoon Drying and Storage Work

In the afternoon, I pulled up the rest of the onions to dry them in the field.
After that, I carried eight containers worth into the greenhouse by evening.

Since there was a forecast for light rain at night, this was a decision made to maintain their dry state.
Such careful attention leads to maintaining quality.

Realizations from Facing Nature

Through this work, I felt once again the difficulty of "harvest timing."
Nature's growth does not wait, and a slight difference in judgment significantly affects the results.
