2025/08/22 On a Morning I Forgot My Café au Lait ~The Joy of Being Supported and a Little Bit of Courage~
2025/08/22
The morning air was still heavy, and it felt as if the sunlight was slowly preparing itself from behind the clouds.
Taking my second daughter to nursery school on my bicycle.
The humid air clung to my skin.
I returned home briefly to get into the car.
I had carefully brewed a café au lait in the kitchen. I poured it into my insulated bottle as usual, thinking that would start my day, but I realized it only after I had pulled the car out.
"Oh, I forgot it."
It wasn't like I was in a rush.
I should have been getting ready at my usual pace.
For some reason, that trivial oversight left a small sense of unease in my heart. But looking back, it might have been a sign that the fatigue of the week had been quietly accumulating.
The sense of fulfillment from running through the five weekdays
The five weekdays after the long weekend.
I want to reward myself, saying, "You worked hard."
I don't know why, but it was a week where all sorts of miscellaneous tasks piled up. I tend to want to put off the tasks I'm not good at, but when I make up my mind and finish them quickly, my heart feels lighter than I expected.
And then, a secret reward for myself once I'm done.
This was my way of getting through it.
In the evening, I returned home as usual. My eldest daughter had just returned from after-school care, and I immediately asked her to handle the rice cooker and clean the bath.
Recently, my eldest daughter has been asking, "Is there anything I can do for you?"Sometimes she's a bit too good, which makes me worry.
By the time I went to pick up my second daughter from nursery school after that, I whispered to myself, "I managed to get through this week somehow."
Growth found in camp preparations
Choosing snacks at the supermarket for the cheerleading camp starting the next day.
Watching the children say, "I want this," or "Oh, this too," I find it interesting how their individual preferences show.
The camp preparations after returning home were finished in 20 minutes.
By the sixth time, I'm already used to it.
Even though it used to be a struggle just to check the items to bring, now I'm surprised to see them organizing the arrangements themselves.
The children are becoming a little more reliable.
I believe this camp, which involves staying overnight with friends other than those from school or nursery school, is surely nurturing the seeds of independence in the children.
I am also very grateful that it is held regularly.
The presence of people who support me
A notification from note catches my eye.
A post from the official account saying, "It's become easier to start memberships," and a notification of a tip received from a follower.
I am interested in memberships.
But I still don't have the courage to create one.
The question, "What can I do?" keeps spinning around in my heart.
But when I remember how I felt when I received the tip, the warmth of knowing there are people who support me spread through my chest.
It makes me think, "I'll try my best to post again."
It's not about the pressure to write a perfect article, but a pure enthusiasm to write something that can resonate with someone's heart.
Nurturing the seeds of small courage
A Friday that started with a morning where I forgot my reward café au lait.
A day where, despite being chased by miscellaneous tasks, I had casual time with my family and was reminded to be grateful for the presence of those who support me.
I've come to think that maybe there is something I can do to be useful to someone. Even though I still don't have the courage to start a membership.
Including the things I'm not good at, the forgotten items, and the hesitations, everything makes up who I am now.
And I think that because I am this true-to-life version of myself, I might be able to write words that reach the hearts of others who are also doing their best every day.
Small courage is not something that grows in a single day.
But in days where I know there are people who support me and I can feel the support of my family, it will surely grow little by little.
Don't you also have a small seed of courage in your heart that hasn't sprouted yet?
If you nurture it with care, it might lead to someone's smile someday.
