I hesitated for a moment before getting out of bed.
The season has arrived where the cold air discourages early rising.

Even so, I got out of bed at 4:10 and went quietly to the living room. I brewed some hot water and opened my planner.

Holding a steaming cup, I thought vaguely.

It is still dark outside the window.

But it makes a world of difference whether or not I have this time in the quiet to slowly face myself.

The "Power to Search" That Children Teach Us

Dinner was, for the first time in a while, a familysecond-helping festival.
I was caught up in the mood by the sound of my children laughing and saying "It's delicious" and their excited voices saying "I'll have seconds."

I got carried away and ate too much. The new rice was so delicious that I couldn't stop using my chopsticks. A happiness unique to this season.

My eldest daughter practiced the piano for an hour for tomorrow's school concert accompaniment audition.
But she kept tilting her head at the same spot.

While I wondered if she would be okay, I had no choice but to watch over her.
My second daughter apparently took the initiative to serve school lunch again today. I received a report that she was teaching her friends

the "best amount."She is helpful.She told me with a smile that she taught them like a little teacher, saying, "This amount is just right."

Children are challenging themselves with something every day.

And in that process, they are accumulating both small failures and small successes.

If What You Search For Changes, Your Daily Life Changes Too

What about me? Have I only been searching for what I haven't done or the parts of me that are lacking?

I feel that the perspective of thinking "it's still not enough" has been eroding my inner peace.

When my eldest daughter tilted her head at the same spot, I realized I wassearching for "the parts she couldn't do."

In reality, I could have praised her for her "ability to concentrate for an hour" or her "attitude of not giving up."

In the busyness of daily life, I tend to overlook those things.

I think children search for different things.
"I did it," "It was fun," "It was delicious."
They live by searching forevidence of happiness.

If what you search for changes, the world you see changes.
What are you searching for in your daily life?

I Want to Cultivate an Eye for Finding Gratitude

From now on, I want to live by searching for"seeds of gratitude."People's warmth, things I've accomplished, small steps forward.

If I turn my eyes toward those things, every day will start to look a little kinder.
But keeping that awareness is surprisingly difficult.

That is why I decided to ask myself during my morning time, "What shall I search for today?"

A day to search for things to be grateful for.

A day to search for my children's growth.
A day to search for my own small efforts.
Just by deciding what to search for, I feel like the way I see the day changes a little.
