2025/07/10 Treasures Overlapping with 'I'm Home' ~A Quiet Story of Crafts and Daily Life~
2025/07/10
On my way to work this morning, I thought, the cumulonimbus clouds are beautiful. There is no sign of rain starting yet. By the time I finish work and get home, there is no wind, and the air clings stickily. On days like this, the pickup routine moves a little faster.
And then,
we made it home before the rain, a small sense of relief spills out the moment we arrive in front of the entrance. A high-five with my second daughter. A Thursday evening where, just as the humid air clings to my skin, something heavy seems to settle in my heart. Waiting on the other side of the door was my eldest daughter's voice saying 'Look, look!' and a lovely creation.
Expressing her own world just as it is
Blue clay with yellow and white stars.
She apparently made a cute pencil holder in art class.
You can see the traces of her hard work in the clay, even in the patterns one by one.
'This is the biggest star point, and this is a button that feels good to press.'
How precious it is to be able to express your own world in your hands just as it is.
'Likes' and 'things felt' take shape just like that. The fact that she wants me to 'look at it' might only be for now.
It's somewhat uneven, awkward, and not perfect.
Even so, her work is definitely growing.
Surely, that is what makes it so dear.
A day to notice a slight sense of discomfort
Dinner is ginger pork, hijiki seaweed, and cucumber sunomono.
Tomatoes served as they are, and miso soup with plenty of ingredients.
It's an everyday thing, but today I suddenly felt, 'It's nice to have a dining table set like this.'
A menu for an ordinary day. Yet, within the 'usual,' there is a genuine feeling of caring for the season and our physical condition.
The 'effort' that cannot be measured by numbers alone is certainly piling up in our daily lives.
It is like a piece of clay—a bit misshapen, but something certain.
Even if no one else notices.
The 'little stories' that dwell in daily life
I believe that 'stories' truly exist within the days we take for granted.
Making it home before the rain.
The creation offered after saying 'I'm home.'
The menu chosen with the season in mind.
The effort that accumulates out of sight.
None of these are special, but they all make up 'our daily life.'
The reason I can think, 'Alright, I'll do my best again tomorrow,' is because I don't want to betray these accumulations.
That is why I want to keep watching today, too
Just as the precision of crafts changes little by little.
Just as we are swayed by numbers.
The days are always moving while changing.
That is why I will keep my eyes on what is truly important beyond that.
The health of my family, the small happiness of each day, and hope for the future.
Within the changes, is there truly 'something I chose myself'? I want to make sure I don't lose sight of that.
What kind of story did you have in your day today?

▶︎ Written by a working mom who enjoys her morning time!
▶︎ There are days when just 5 minutes can protect you.
A way to organize without pushing yourself, our family's Wednesday version!
▶︎ Perhaps it is in the feelings you cannot quite decide on
that your most important thoughts are packed.
Thank you so much for reading until the end!
Rather than seeking a perfect answer, I want to move forward little by little while cherishing the emotions of each moment.
Beyond the rain clouds, a sunny spell is surely waiting.
Believing in that, I want to keep taking small steps again today. Well then, until next time!
