Taking my high school self to a music festival
The other day, I went to a music festival by myself.
The venue was Makuhari Messe.
It was so far! But Makuhari Messe was more comfortable than I expected. There were plenty of restrooms so I didn't have to wait in line much, and there were lots of benches provided so I could sit down when I got tired, and I was able to eat my meal while sitting.
A few bands I liked when I was in high school were performing, so I decided to take the plunge and go, and it was incredibly fun!
Back then, not only did I not have money, but there was no information either. It was a time when looking things up on the internet was still something only a few people did. I didn't know how to find or get tickets.
If it was a big name like Namie Amuro performing at a dome, I could somehow find information (and I actually went), but if it was a group playing in a small venue that sold out immediately, I had no idea how to get tickets. Let alone a music festival.
And so, I became an adult without ever hearing them live.
But on the other hand, what was allowed back then was listening to music at full volume on earphones while riding a bicycle! It felt great to speed down the road on my bike on the way to school while listening to music at full volume. It was definitely dangerous on steep hills where cars were driving, though.
I think there are lives being saved now because laws have been enacted.
The introduction got long, but the live show while holding onto those memories from back then was the best!
There were many people from my generation, and I felt like everyone had brought their younger selves along too.
I had a blast to my heart's content. I didn't care what people around me thought. Well, actually, everyone at the venue looked like they were having a great time!
At my age, I can't go to the front and mosh anymore, but I really enjoyed myself.
I'm really happy that people from back then are gathering like this. (Before I went, I actually considered not going because of how far Makuhari Messe was.)
The version of me that admired them back then was inside me too, and I feel like she was really happy!
And, I deeply felt once again that I really do love loud music.
It was a good day.
