Fasting is not limited to just food!
Good evening, everyone!
It has been a while since my last post, but how have you all been?
I am doing well as always, but in September, I didn't update my posts even once and barely even logged into Note, as I was doing a digital detox.

Until the end of August, I was continuing to update Note every day as part of a 66-day writing challenge, but since I went abroad for a short time from the end of August, I didn't bother changing my SIM card, nor did I rent a Wi-Fi device, so I only had the chance to touch my mobile phone at the airport.
While I was abroad like that, I spent several days unintentionally without looking at my phone at all, and I felt my heart become surprisingly light.

In the modern age, we are constantly surrounded by smartphones and computers, and we are often swept away by a flood of information.
There was a time when I was constantly checking social media and Note, desperate to reply to comments, or stuffing information into my head while listening to YouTube or audio...
But at that time, I suddenly realized:
“Is a daily life so dependent on a smartphone really good for my health?”
I think I had been intentionally suppressing the fact that I was constantly feeling some kind of impatience or stress.
If I had continued to depend on my phone and digital devices in September at the same pace as I did until August, and continued that way afterward, what would have happened?
For example, if we compare digital consumption to food, I think modern people are truly eating too much and becoming overweight.
And when you overeat and gain weight, you naturally develop complications.
Diabetes, high blood pressure, cerebral infarction, sleep apnea syndrome, and so on...
As a way to deal with being overweight, one might consider getting enough sleep, eating a nutritionally balanced diet, or fasting to flush toxins out of the body...
Returning to the point, food and digital consumption are similar, and the possibility of developing illnesses from consuming too much digital content is just as high as it is from overeating.
I think that by constantly reacting to notifications from your smartphone, checking social media, and being exposed to incessant information, stress accumulates even further, and the gaps between work and private life disappear, and time with family and friends is interrupted by the smartphone, which may have caused the space for peace of mind to gradually disappear.
And in the end, my physical and mental balance might have collapsed, and I could have suffered from various illnesses such as burnout syndrome.
By daring to create more time without touching my phone in September than I had before, I felt a little anxious at first, but as I talked about in my latest YouTube video and my official newsletter, limiting my phone usage for nearly a month led to surprising changes.
For example, the first thing I felt was that my mind became clear, I had fewer things to worry about, and I had more space for peace of mind.
I realized that by constantly chasing information, my heart was unconsciously exhausted.
Also, I naturally became able to concentrate on the scenery around me and conversations with people, and I was able to enjoy each and every moment more deeply.
What I felt after doing a little digital detox is that fasting isn't limited to food and that the way I use my time and energy has changed significantly.
Previously, if I had a little free time, I would reach for my smartphone to read articles on note, watch YouTube, or check the news (I was essentially snacking, in terms of food), but now I've been able to use that time to read books, go for walks, and engage in more creative activities.
In particular, the increase in time spent with the people around me has been a truly welcome change.
I believe that being able to have more conversations and feel deeper connections is thanks to stepping away from my phone for a while.
If you are reading this now and feel like you might be dependent on digital devices, I really hope you will try a digital detox at least once.
I'm sure you use them a lot for work, so I think starting with a short period is perfectly fine.
Just by putting your phone away for half a day or a full day, I think you will feel a big change.
And by gradually extending that time to a few days or a week, you will be able to feel your peace of mind and concentration returning.
I haven't completely stepped away from digital devices myself, but I realize that just consciously reviewing how I interact with them dramatically changes the quality of my life.
I am convinced that digital detox will be a key keyword for resetting your mind and body and living a more fulfilling life in the coming era.
I really hope that those who have read this article will take this opportunity to give it a try!

Afterword
...and so, I have returned to the world of note 🎵
However, unlike before, I will not aim to update note every day.
I plan to update when I can, when I want to write again, and when I can put what I want to convey into words.
And I am thinking that I would like to organize the notes I have written about my experiences so far so that I can convey them better.
Also, the "Self-Improvement Happy Magazine" that I updated as much as possible every week will be changed to a monthly format so that I can introduce it about once a month.
I think my way of engaging with note will change from what it was before, but my desire to share self-improvement has not changed at all.
I want to convey the wonder of self-improvement to as many people as possible, and I will continue to do my best so that more attractive people can exist in this world.
And to everyone who introduced my articles or left comments while I was on break, thank you so much!!
With that, the afterword has become a bit long, but I would be happy if you continue to support GAMI, the 'Jise-Oji' (aiming to be a next-generation cool middle-aged man)!
See you in the next article!

I have started the official Jise-Ojisan GAMI newsletter (JO-Mind)!
And regarding the introduction of the newsletter...
Right now, I am giving a gift to all subscribers: "Self-Improvement from Your 40s: The Complete Roadmap"🎁 I will be delivering audio and columns every week, so I would be very happy if you could register!🎵↓↓↓ Click here to go to the registration form!
