Water is my only choice for a drink.
Do you carry a personal bottle when you go to work, school, or out for leisure?
Or do you buy plastic bottles of tea or coffee at convenience stores or supermarkets to take with you?
For about the past year, whenever I go out, I have made it a habit to prepare two 1-liter personal bottles and fill them with water from my water purifier to take with me.
In other words, I carry 2 liters of water around with me.
You might think, "Do you really drink that much?"
But for me, this has become a completely normal part of my daily life.
And now, when someone asks me, "What would you like to drink?"
I answer not with "Water is fine," but with "I'd like water,"
which shows just how much I've come to drink water.
This time, I would like to write about "why I choose water" as a small habit in my daily life.
The reason I choose water
The biggest reason I started drinking water is simply because it is what my body needs.
The human body is composed of a lot of water.
Water in the body is gradually lost through daily activities like sweating or going to the bathroom.
That is why it is important to replenish fluids frequently.
Of course, tea and coffee also provide hydration.
I used to buy tea or coffee when I was out, too.
But when I thought about it, I realized that more often than not, I was looking for "hydration" rather than the "taste of a drink."
If that's the case, wouldn't the simplest option, water, be enough?
That is what I started to think.
Water basically has no calories, and you don't have to worry about sugar like you do with sweet drinks.
You can gulp it down whenever you're thirsty.
This simplicity works for me.
What I felt after I started drinking water
Since I started drinking water frequently, the thing I noticed most myself was that my constipation was resolved.
Of course, there are various causes for constipation, such as diet and exercise habits.
However, in my case, my stomach has been in better condition than before since I started consciously drinking water.
Also, when I drink enough water, I feel like my body is circulating properly.
Hydration is also important for maintaining the circulation of blood and body fluids.
If there is a lack of water in the body, it can affect your physical condition.
That is why, instead of drinking only when I am thirsty, I am conscious of drinking water frequently before I get thirsty.
I also exercise for my health, but I think drinking water is one of the easiest health habits to adopt.
Is water also good for beauty?
It is said that drinking water also has benefits for beauty.
Of course, just drinking water won't make your skin look dramatically better.
Even so, replenishing the water your body needs is important for maintaining healthy skin.
If there is a lack of water in the body, it can lead to dry skin.
Conversely, by drinking water frequently on a daily basis, you can maintain your body's water balance.
I am not extremely careful about beauty.
I don't use expensive cosmetics either.
That is precisely why I start with simple things I can do every day.
One of those things is drinking water.
For the sake of both health and beauty, I believe drinking water is a recommended habit that you can practice without spending any extra money.
Water doesn't cause "swelling"; proper hydration is what matters.
You might be thinking, "Won't I get swollen if I drink too much water?"
Some people may feel that way.
It is true that consuming more water than necessary can sometimes put a strain on your body.
However, that does not mean you should cut back on your water intake.
Swelling has various causes, such as consuming too much salt or staying in the same position for long periods.
What is important is not to drink an extreme amount of water or, conversely, to deprive yourself of it, but rather to hydrate appropriately according to your own body's needs I think.
I make sure to drink water little by little throughout the day, rather than gulping it down only after my throat feels parched.
Water is better "frequently" than "all at once"
What I am conscious of is drinking water frequently rather than gulping it down when I feel thirsty.
For example, while I am working, I drink a little bit of water about once an hour.
Even if I am not thirsty, I take a sip whenever I remember to.
I repeat this process.
Of course, I do not strictly manage it by drinking a specific number of milliliters every hour.
The important thing is to hydrate little by little on a regular basis, rather than rushing to drink water only after you are already thirsty.
I continue with this mindset.
And above all, water is cheap.
The reason I recommend water is not just for health reasons.
It is also very excellent from an economic standpoint.
Due to the impact of rising prices, it is not uncommon for a bottled drink at a convenience store to cost around 150 to 200 yen.
Of course, it is not a significant amount for just one bottle.
But what happens when that becomes a daily occurrence?
At 200 yen a day, that is about 6,000 yen a month.
That is about 72,000 yen a year.
What you thought was 'only 200 yen' adds up to a large amount.
On the other hand, in my case, I just carry water filtered through a purifier in my own bottle.
Of course, there are costs for things like water purifiers, but it is overwhelmingly more economical than buying bottled drinks every day.
Moreover, it also reduces plastic bottle waste.
It is not just about health; it also saves money and has environmental benefits.
For me, it is a habit that kills three birds with one stone.
The small habit of 'carrying water'
Since I started drinking water, there is something I have realized again.
That is, a healthy lifestyle does not require doing anything special.
You do not have to go to the gym every day.
You do not have to buy expensive supplements.
You do not have to practice special health methods.
Start by changing what you drink every day just a little bit.
In my case, that choice was water.
I prepare two 1-liter personal bottles.
I fill them with water that has passed through a water purifier.
I take them with me to work or when I go out.
And I drink from them frequently.
That is all there is to it.
Yet, this small habit has continued for a year.
I intend to continue living with the basic rule that "water is the only choice for drinks."
Of course, I drink coffee occasionally, and I drink local beverages when I travel.
There is no rule that says you must absolutely do things a certain way.
However, regarding my daily hydration,
I think of it not as "water is fine," but as "water is best."
I think so.
For my health.
For my beauty.
For saving money.
And to keep my daily life simple.
If you often buy bottled drinks, why not try carrying a personal bottle filled with water for a while?
You might find it surprisingly comfortable and easier to maintain than you think.
For me, this is currently the simplest and most sustainable health habit I have.
Water is the only choice for a drink.
Everyone, please give it a try.
