Only 50 days left this year

Before I knew it, there are only 50 days left this year.

I have mixed feelings of "Wait, already?" and

"Well, I suppose that's true..."

When I went outside after it got dark, the air had turned a little cold.

It's not quite "freezing" yet, but
it's just enough to make me hesitate for a moment, wondering, "Do I need a jacket? Maybe?"

This subtle time of year is when I feel the seasons the most.

Summer was hot, but
life was easy, at least.

I could go out in just a T-shirt,
and getting ready in the morning took no time at all.

The laundry was thin and light, and it dried quickly.

Thinking back on it now, the way beer or cola—those cold drinks—really hit the spot felt like a luxury.

Come to think of it, this summer I bought and drankroot beerfor the first time in 10 years.

It had that scent like a medicinal patch and
a flavor like diluted Seirogan.
It had an intense sweetness, like I'd dumped a ton of gum syrup into it, along with strong carbonation.

It's bad, but it's good.
I got hooked and finished a whole case in no time 😅

But now,
"I guess I should get my coat out soon"
"I really want to soak in a bathtub soon"
those are the kinds of things crossing my mind this season.

Honestly, it's a bit of a hassle.

But winter has its own joys, too.

Like the hot miso soup you drink after a cold walk home,
or a hot pot you eat while blowing on it to cool it down,
or the time spent soaking slowly in the tub at night.

And then,
the "deliciousness that only comes out in winter" of hot sake.
That stuff is dangerous.

Summer has its lightness,
and winter has its depth.

Seasons really do have their own charm.

I'm sure in another 50 days,
"It's cold, but this isn't so bad after all" ☺️
I'll probably be saying something like that to myself,
finding my own ways to enjoy the winter.

When the seasons change like that,
I feel like people's hearts become just a little bit kinder.
