Focusing on Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture and Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, I would like to write articles for those who think,'Since I've gone to the trouble of visiting a regional city on a business trip, I want to enjoy delicious food (and sometimes drinks)!'

Chinese Restaurant Manmi (Taihaku Ward/Izumi Ward, Sendai City/Chinese)

I previously wrote a review article about Manmi, but

I only introduced the president's recommendation,Sanratanmen (Hot and Sour Soup Noodles), and didn't introduce the Sendai B-grade gourmet dish that this restaurant (presumably) originated,'Mapo Yakisoba', so I would like to write about it this time.

Sendai-originated B-grade gourmet'Mapo Yakisoba'.

Basically, it is a menu item consisting of delicious yakisoba topped with delicious mapo tofu.

However, naturally, improvements can be seen in both the noodles and the mapo.

1. Noodles

They are thinner, shorter, brown noodles than what you might imagine for yakisoba.

Although the firmness is different, you can think of them as similar to the noodles in Nagasaki Champon.

2. Mapo Tofu

It is slightly spicy, and as you can see in the image, the tofu is cut into small pieces.

Therefore, Mapo Yakisoba is not something you slurp like ramen, but rather something you scoop up and eat with chopsticks or a Chinese soup spoon.

Because that is how you eat it, Mapo Yakisoba can be a main dish like I had, or if you come with a large group, it is also a great menu item to share with everyone.

And then, the egg soup on the side.

It is perfect as a palate cleanser for the slightly spicy yakisoba.

It is just a small side dish, and not something you would order on its own, but it is really great when it comes as part of a set like this.

Mapo Yakisoba has been featured in many media outlets.

And it is also loved by celebrities like Momoiro Clover Z.

When you visit Sendai, why not taste how delicious it is and make it a story to tell back home from your business trip?

sat down saying, "What should I eat at McDonald's?" but after watching me eat the Mapo Yakisoba,
they went from "Ramen sounds good too" to
"I'll have the Hot and Sour Soup Noodles."
