[My Work] The Right to Disconnect [Work Style Reform / Overtime Work]
The right to disconnect is the right to 'not have to respond to work-related communications outside of business hours,' but to what extent is it actually being protected?
I read this news.

Regarding this matter, although it may sound blunt,
it depends entirely on the company, industry, and job duties of the person in question
is all I can say.
There is no doubt that most working professionals 'do not want to respond to communications from their company or related parties outside of business hours, nor do they want to engage in subsequent exchanges.'
However, depending on the industry and job duties, if you cannot be reached on weekends (outside of business hours) (= if there is a time loss of about a day), it could potentially lead to significant financial lossas well.
Outside of business hours, it is basically better to complete tasks via email or messaging, which does not disturb the other party as much as a phone call (voice), but if detailed communication is required, voice calls may be necessary.
Therefore, in such cases, it must be said that it is unavoidable if the right to disconnect cannot be exercised.

I am a freelancer, not a company employee, so I receive more phone calls from clients on holidays (since I do not have fixed days off) than a typical office worker.
However,in those cases, I basically make it a rule to receive contact via email, LINE, etc.I try to do so.
And,I also convey that it will take a little time to replyas well.
When I tell my colleagues about this approach, many feel that they 'envy how well I handle it,' but to achieve this, it is important to take action and make an effort yourself. Specifically, it is necessary to efficiently complete your own work while communicating and laying the groundwork with business partners and clients on a regular basis.
I was not able to take this approach from the beginning either, but as trust deepens, it naturally starts to work out well.

As mentioned above, because there are various patterns regarding the "right to disconnect," it is impossible to definitively state whether it is illegal or legal. However, there is no doubt that many working professionals "do not want to respond to contact from the company or related parties outside of working hours, nor do they want to engage in subsequent exchanges," and this can lead to increased dissatisfaction.
If left unaddressed, such dissatisfaction is a major issue that often leads not only to the disruption of company discipline but also to employee turnover and decreased productivity.
Therefore, the company side (HR and labor management) needs to "provide something in return (such as allowances or benefits)" to employees who may be in this situation.
To ensure smooth company operations, such detailed consideration regarding HR and labor management is necessary.
