Changes in our home since we started keeping a hamster.

Last spring.

The hamster that had been my daughter's long-held wish
came to our home.

We went to the pet shop many times,
listened to the staff,
and discussed it as a family many times.

And then,
we decided to keep
a "Kinkuma hamster"that we fell in love with at first sight.

First,
we decided on a name.

In the end, it was decided as
"Azuki" (red bean),
which my daughter proposed.

Daily care
was mainly to be done by my daughter.

There are many things to do, such as feeding, refilling water, and cleaning the cage.

My daughter watches YouTube to research,and she is learning and practicing various things.

"Wanting to know" encourages learning.

I think my daughter's sense of responsibility has improved.
She is concerned about the heat and cold
for this "silent small animal."
And even when we go out,
she is mindful of breakfast and dinner times.
Even on her days off,
she is able to wake up early to feed it.

The whole family is healed.

It shows active and cute movements.
Just watching it relieves stress.

When I put it on my palm,
I don't know what to say,
but I feel a gentle emotion.

According to my daughter,
it's an "explosion of love hormones."
she says.

Come to think of it,
I think my wife has also become kinder
than she was before we got the hamster.

And,
because of its extreme cuteness,
I end up taking photos and
drawing pictures of it.
And many, many of them at that.

It is so cute that it becomes
a subject of expression.

And,

thinking about its lifespan of 2 to 3 years,
I suddenly feel lonely.

I believe that this, too,
for the children,
is a significant 'lesson on life'.
That is what I think.

The change that this little life
has brought to our home
is a big one.

The cuteness of a hamster
is now part of our daily life.

That was my story about how
'a life with a hamster'
is a wonderful thing.
