Story [Shirokuma Literature Club]
I gained the ability to enter stories.
This could be called the perfect ability for someone like me, who is always trying to escape reality. It is a convenient power.
Worlds also expand within books. I choose one of the characters and enter the story by taking over their role. It doesn't matter if I don't know the plot. The necessary words just come out of my mouth automatically.
However, no matter how I act, I cannot rewrite the flow of the story. I can only enter the story from the perspective of a character.
Entering a story is a truly exciting experience.
I tried being Momotaro. It was too scary when the ogres attacked for real.
I became the lion from 'Guri and Gura'. I ate the finished castella cake faster than anyone else. It was truly delicious.
I became a card soldier in 'Alice'. When I asked about my job, I was treated like a madman. As expected, I'm not good at dealing with others.
When I talk with Snufkin in 'Moominvalley', it feels as if even the shape of the campfire has meaning.
Once I enter, I cannot leave until the story reaches its end. That is the drawback.
If I were to accidentally enter something like a biography of a person, I would be forced to accompany them through almost their entire life.
Therefore, I must carefully examine the books I enter—.
Wait a minute?
I realized something.
What meaning is there in my own life?
I have been a truant since the first year of junior high. If I continue my life as it is, a bottom-tier NEET life is guaranteed.
The ability to escape into stories is exactly the embodiment of my habit of running away. Isn't this a given chance?
Let's escape.
Into the life of a wonderfully successful person.
Who should it be?
The biography I chose was 'Tokugawa Ieyasu'.
Supported by many loyal retainers, overcoming difficulties, suffering while losing them at times, and finally leading the world to peace.
Yes. I want to be a great hero. Everyone should bow down to me.
From today, I am the divine ruler—.
—It seems I entered the wrong book.
I knew it immediately.
The era is different. This is clearly not the late Muromachi period. Judging from the appearance of the buildings and the clothes of the people, I would guess it is the Taisho or Showa era...
Judging by the accent of the language, I guessed it was the Tohoku region.
This is my mother's doing.
On very rare occasions, I go out. My mother cleans my room without permission. She must have mixed up the book covers at that time.
I always tell her to stop. That old hag, I'll kill her when I get back.
I was called Yozo.
Yozo. Yozo, Yozo...
It's over. 'No Longer Human'.
End
This is the one I participated in.
