Would you eat a rice ball with your wife's hair in it?
Three couples of close, middle-aged friends
who went on a trip to Atami.
“Hahahaha!”
Inside the car,
the father, who calls himself a neat freak, laughs loudly.
Ignoring the driver,
he was guzzling canned beer and chuhai.
The mothers were
opening bags of snacks one after another
with a “rustle.”
(They’re getting a bit too noisy...)
Just as the father behind the wheel
was about to lose his patience,
one of the mothers (Ms. Y) spoke up.
“The other day, there was this person.
He said there was a hair
in the rice ball I packed for his lunch!
He brought it back without taking a single bite
and showed it to...
me!”
The car goes quiet for a moment.
……And then, a huge burst of laughter!
“Wait, really? What’s up with that?”
Another mother chimed in.
“I mean, it’s Ms. Y’s hair, right?”
“Exactly! It’s mine.
The father pinched the hair like it was something filthy
and said, ‘Look at this.’”
__Unbelievable.
Everyone looked at that father
with cold eyes.
However, whether he heard them
or just pretended not to,
the father was still
laughing loudly,
“Hahahaha!”
A wife who stays by her husband’s side despite being exasperated by his excessive fastidiousness.
I wonder how this couple has managed to stay together for so many years.
This story was a snippet from the wild journey of some middle-aged couples, including her parents, that I heard from a mom friend the other day.
So, would you eat a rice ball with your wife’s hair in it?
