The Day I Cried Thinking Life Is a Survival Game (Part 1)
I'm a bit of a klutz who wanted to write a new article, but I couldn't get around to it because the articles by other people on Note were just too interesting. They're honestly so good that everyone should just publish books.
Anyway, this is a fairly recent story.
I have two Jack Russell Terriers at home.
As a klutz who has only had dogs as friends since I was little, I just really wanted to raise a dog myself.
I felt like I might crush a Chihuahua if I rolled over on it, and Poodles are just too cunningly cute, like they're pretending to be human... I actually wanted to keep a Sumatran tiger, but I gave up because I don't have a yard.
I watched the movie The Mask and thought, 'Ah... this is the one.'

When I looked up Jack Russell Terriers, I found:
Beginners should not keep them
A light truck with a Ferrari engine
Party animals
If they realize their owner is weak, they become tyrants. ← Huh?
Jack Russell Terrier regret
They just kept popping up. I decided to go with this breed, even though I really wanted a Sumatran tiger.
I wasn't satisfied with just one, so I ended up getting two. Maybe I'll write more about that later.
That day, I took both of them out by myself for a walk to a large park with a favorite pond, which took about an hour. (If I don't walk them for at least an hour a day, they wreak absolute havoc at home.)
I was dressed in my usual sloppy outfit of jeans and flip-flops.
As we approached the pond, they got excited, their eyes started gleaming, and they pulled with incredible strength.

When we finally arrived at the park like this, their excitement reached its peak. With a sudden yank, my legs turned into jelly and I fell hard. (After all, I'm the slowest runner in my grade.)

But I had sworn to myself that I would never let go of the leash, so I didn't use my hands to break my fall and ended up scraping half my body and getting all muddy.
Still, I stood up quickly and started walking as if nothing had happened. 'I hope no one saw that,' I thought.
But for some reason, I couldn't walk properly. 'Oh?' I thought, and when I looked down at my feet, one of my flip-flops was...

Did you know that when this happens, no matter how hard you try to grip the strap with your toes, you can't walk at all? Has this ever happened to you? Lol. Does it really just pop off this cleanly?! Hahaha.
Anyway, I dragged my feet, and dragging them along, I sat down on a bench.
Sitting on a bench with two Jack Russells is a high-difficulty task. My dream as a klutz is to go to a dog cafe, but even now that they are seniors, it hasn't come true. Ah, if only I had gotten a cunning poodle instead...

I can't take another step...
I put my klutzy brain to full use.
☝️ Call my family and have them bring me shoes!!
→ Everyone is out for work and school.
☝️ Call a nearby friend.
→ Oh right, I don't have any friends.
☝️ Call my parents' house.
→ Wait, I didn't bring my smartphone.
☝️ Walk home for an hour with one foot barefoot.
→ That would be a real incident.
☝️ Ask someone jogging for help!!
…

From the outside, the lovely lady with the dogs, looking cool (though dirty) while gazing at the pond, is...
I was completely checkmated.
My son often says,
I'm seriously checkmated on this test! It's a total checkmate!
But, my son...
My son... this is what it truly means to be checkmated.
A grown adult who can never return from this park again, trapped on all sides, with no moves left to make. That is checkmate.
To be continued in Part 2...
