Self-Introduction | A note starting from the question: What does it mean to 'nurture'?
Introduction
Nice to meet you.
I work at an IT venture, handling AI and general affairs.
To summarize my background,
Large factory → Food & Beverage → Streamer → Nursing care → General affairs.
I have walked through worlds with completely different job types and environments.
However, what was common in every place was
the theme of "nurturing people."
What does it mean to "nurture"?
Is it teaching? Scolding? Delegating?
They all sound like the right answer, but I feel like they are all different.
Every time my position changed, I lost sight of that meaning.
In the factory, I was told to "produce results,"
in food and beverage, I was told to "lead by example,"
and in nursing care, I was taught that "being there for someone is nurturing."
Even so, in every workplace, there were people who "didn't grow well,"
and there was a version of myself who couldn't nurture them well.
"Nurturing" as a form of engagement
Amidst all this, what I felt was,
perhaps "nurturing people" is ultimately just a "form of engagement."
That is what I think.
The right answer differs from person to person,
and it also changes depending on the timing.
That is why it is difficult, and that is why it is interesting.
Recently, my work involving AI has increased,
and I also encounter the question, "Can AI nurture people?"
Every time I think about that,
I realize that nurturing is not a "technique" but a "relationship."
What I want to write about from now on
In this note, with such an ambiguous theme as the core,
The reality seen in the field of a venture company
The discomfort felt within an organization
The sense of distance between AI/systems and "people"
I will put these into words and leave them behind.
Not to teach someone else,
but to organize my own "questions."
If there is anyone else who feels the same "difficulty in nurturing people,"
I would be happy if this note could serve as a starting point for your thoughts, even just a little.
