It's strange to say, 'I want to be someone'
Many people seem to think, 'I'm not really anything special... I want to be someone, too.' Could that be you as well?
But, in reality, you are already 'someone.' Why? Because you have a name. You might be Taro Yamada, or perhaps Hanako Suzuki.
This isn't just a quibble; you are a respectable human being. We tend to misunderstand things and often think that without a special title, we have no value.
That is not the case at all; the very fact that you exist in this world as a human being already makes you 'someone.'
The reason you think you're not special is because you compare yourself to famous people or those with great achievements, but if you compare yourself to all of humanity, you are actually quite a unique existence.
You might not stand out, but perhaps you are incredibly fast at counting bills, or you are exceptionally fast and skilled at washing dishes, or you can read books for hours on end.
This may seem modest, but to others, it is astonishing. It's mind-blowing. People will be surprised and ask, 'How can you do that!?'
Yes, you just haven't noticed it because it's too natural for you. Try asking the people around you what you are good at or how they perceive you. You will likely be surprised. You'll think, 'Is that how they saw me?'
If you take the skills you discover there and polish how you express them, you will become an 'amazing person.'
People who are considered 'someone' are just those who have successfully found this or are simply standing out. Not everyone is a celebrity, and not everyone is a shrewd business owner. That is not the only way to be great.
Everyone has their own history, things they have built up, and a story that leads to today. When you dig deep, it's actually incredibly interesting. You are undoubtedly interesting, too. Even the difficult times, when looked back upon, often turn out to be interesting stories.
That is why it is strange to say that you are not much of anything or that you want to become someone; you are already amazing, and you have already become someone.
When you explore each person's life, it is quite fascinating and interesting, so I might try doing an interview project sometime.
You can live with confidence, holding your head high and saying, 'I am who I am!' You don't need to be 'someone'—you just need to live your own life to the fullest. That is what I think.
