Just adding one 'pause' can settle your heart
For those of us who are a little bad at resting.
Today's theme #48 'Designing Pauses'
Let's find some 'small ways to rest' together that will make you feel a little lighter ♪
The power of the white space created by a 'pause'
Our lives tend to get filled up with schedules and tasks.
But it is precisely because there is a 'pause' in conversation that words resonate more deeply.
In the same way, when you leave a 'pause' in your daily life,
your body and mind can more easily regain their breath.
Designing a 'pause' is
not just about clearing time,
but a small technique for leaving white space for the future.
Tuning the five organs
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, when the [Heart] is calm, breathing and rhythm settle,
and when the [Spleen] has room, digestion and thinking proceed at a relaxed pace.
Furthermore, the [Kidney] is the organ that supports the roots of energy.
It has been considered essential to have 'white space' to nourish this.
Having a 'pause' that follows the natural rhythm
is considered the basis of health preservation to keep the functions of the five organs balanced.
The 'pause' of opening in the morning
Why not make 5 minutes in the morning your 'white space'?
Instead of looking at your smartphone right after waking up, open the curtains and take a deep breath while bathing in the light.
The [Qi] of the [Lungs] opens, and the circulation of the day becomes smooth.
The 'pause' of a midday breather
After eating lunch, instead of going back to your smartphone or computer,
why not create time to 'savor just one cup of tea'?
It helps the function of the [Spleen], and your afternoon concentration will be easier to regain.
Psychological research also suggests that these few minutes of 'micro-breaks'
restore performance.
The 'pause' of closing the night
For 10 minutes before going to bed, why not dim the lights in your room,
and count your breaths while feeling the silence?
The parasympathetic nervous system becomes dominant, and it becomes a 'pause' that nourishes the energy of the [Kidney].
From the perspective of behavioral economics, if you set it up as a 'reward time before sleep',
you can continue it without strain.
Ways to design 'pauses' in daily life
・Intentionally include '5 minutes of not moving' between scheduled tasks
・After meals, always make sure to have 'one cup of tea' without looking at your smartphone
・Set up '10 minutes of silence' before going to sleep
You don't need a long vacation.
You can stack 'pauses' throughout your daily life.
Having white space actually tightens the whole, and
a sense of security spreads, becoming energy to protect your future.
