Field Notes of a Convalescent Care Nurse: Why I Love Rehabilitation Nursing So Much
My "Nice to meet you" was thrown away...
I definitely started writing it before, but the draft disappeared along with everything else... 😑.
This is an introduction written by me, having opened note for the first time in a while, as I try to remember how to use it.
Finally, here is my introduction
I am a nurse working in a convalescent rehabilitation ward.
I love rehabilitation nursing so much that I became a convalescent rehabilitation nurse certified by the Japanese Association of Convalescent Rehabilitation Wards, and I have been racing down the nursing career path for over a decade now 🚑!!
I love analysis and trial and error, and I have a high level of initiative. In the past, I was the woman who modified a comfortable urinal 🪛 for a patient with hemiplegia who couldn't use a standard one well. That is me, Irodori no Shi.
My areas of expertise in nursing
*Nursing for patients with persistent vegetative states
*Nursing for patients with higher brain dysfunction
*Nursing for patients with dementia
*Transfer techniques
*Biomechanics
*Physical assessment
and more.
That was a bit... 🤔 difficult with all the technical terms. I will explain these in an easy-to-understand way in future articles.
I strive to never miss, to pick up, and to expand upon a patient's expressions, casual gestures, and feelings they cannot put into words.
This is the creed I live by as I struggle through each day.
It is not just about supporting the 'recovery of daily living activities' for patients; being able to witness the 'moment when their true self returns' is my joy as a rehabilitation nurse.
On note 📖
I will write about the nursing practices I perform daily, as well as my thoughts on nursing, focusing on the unique challenges of the field, how to engage with patients toward the recovery of their daily activities, and what those moments when their true self returns are really like.
I will try to break down technical terms as much as possible while keeping the passion for nursing and the atmosphere of the field intact.
I would be happy if my judgments and approaches as a nurse could serve as an opportunity for someone else to rethink their own nursing practice.
Please note that this article is limited to my personal practice records and judgments and observations based on my own subjectivity.
Of course, as a nursing professional, I will strive to handle expertise as accurately as possible, but I will write these articles while being careful not to identify patients or the facility I belong to regarding other personal information.
The concept is 🐦
A place where a chirpy, talkative nurse colorfully writes about the world seen in the 'moments when people return.'
I will make it that kind of place.
I thought the bird in the icon was the perfect mascot for this chirpy note, and I intended to use it for the title image this time as well, but...
To my surprise... my past self had fired it (data lost 😑).
