I often hear about the Silver Human Resources Center in both my public and private life, so it is a familiar presence to me.

Grass cutting and pruning of branches.
Carpentry, plastering, painting, and cleaning work.
Energetic members use their experience to handle these tasks with ease!

Air ventilation and management of vacant houses.
There also seem to be security duties.

There are also office tasks, writing certificates, and addressing envelopes.

When I spoke to the office staff,
they said that work for female members, such as housekeeping, childcare support, and after-school care, is also increasing rapidly!

Yesterday, the general meeting of the Kitakyushu City Silver Human Resources Center was held.
There are about 2,700 members in the Kitakyushu City Silver Human Resources Center!!
The general meeting was held in the main hall of Well Tobata.

In this day and age, it seemed like the participating members were a bit reluctant to attend, but the solemn general meeting proceeded.

I was asked to talk about disaster prevention for 20 minutes between the general meeting and the awards ceremony, so I decided to speak.

Starting with my self-introduction, the structure of the talk...
Since everyone was tired from the general meeting and it was a different genre of topic, I thought I should speak a bit slowly,
so I worried about what points to develop in my talk.

I thought it would be a waste to just structure it like "teaching basic knowledge."

So, I spoke under the theme of
【That 'one word' can prevent a disaster】
.

The members of the Silver Human Resources Center
receive various work requests and go to various places.

There are many requests from elderly people living alone who say they cannot do even simple tasks by themselves.

Places marked with color on hazard maps.
Homes with mountains, rivers, or cliffs nearby.
People living in old buildings.
People who feel lonely or anxious during disasters, such as those living alone.

They go to visit various people.

That is why I suggested that they try reaching out with a 'single word' of concern.
"Aren't you feeling anxious?"
"Aren't you worried?"
Rather than suggesting concrete measures, it is aboutbeing there for their feelings.I think that such outreach can be the trigger for taking the next step.

I believe there arelives that can be saved, starting with that one word.And that is a skill that
only you, the members, can truly achieve,not someone like me.

I believe there is definitely an effect to the 'single word' that saves lives,
which can only be achieved by all of you who solve various problems
to meet a wide range of needs,and I believe in that power.

It is going to get hotter from here on.
