Let's do our best together
Last night, I talked with my eldest son about his future goals.
The hurdle is high, I think, but
my son's goal setting was unwavering, and
I felt his emotional growth in the strength of his determination.
Regardless of his current ability, I think the fact that he is aiming for it is a big first step.
As a parent, it was a very happy topic to discuss.
And, compared to someone like me, I also felt envious of his generation, which still holds so many possibilities (laughs).
I also told my son one of my future goals.
For me, it is a very, very high hurdle.
"Dad is going to do his best, so you do your best too."
"If you do your best, I think I can do my best too."
After talking like that,
we promised each other that we would achieve our goals.
"Let's do our best together."
I think there is great power in these words.
You can work harder with "Let's do our best" than with "Do your best."
The phrase "Do your best" is one-sidedly cast out, wishing for the other person's effort.
Of course, this can also be encouraging and give you energy, but
the phrase "Let's do our best" makes you feel like you are running together and that you have a partner, doesn't it?
I'm sure you can work harder this way.
I hope that I can become a good partner to my son,
and he to me,
where we can inspire each other.
Today I introduced this through a conversation between parent and child, but
I'm sure there are many things you are influenced by.
You might be inspired by colleagues or teammates who are working hard,
or you might be inspired by the efforts of friends in completely different fields,
and you can also get power, such as hope, courage, and motivation, from sports or the news.
Even if it's just on your own,
I think it's good to empathize by saying, "That person is working hard, so I will work hard too."
Let's do our best today too!
I'm sure you have big goals and small goals.
Let's take a step forward today as well!!
Thank you for reading again today.
