[Dream Diary] #10 The Girl Who Draws Well

A girl at my workplace, who is always bright and energetic, was offered a job to create a large illustration. Since it was her first major project, I was asked to take on a role like an advisor to her.

During breaks and in between work, I looked at her sketches and progress, offering as much advice as I could think of regarding the direction of her touch and her use of color. However, the girl always kept her pen moving with a smile on her face. Despite it being her first big job, her expression radiated confidence, and I felt there was no need to worry too much.

Whenever I tried to offer more detailed advice, she would reply with the same smile, saying, "It's okay." I felt that her smile contained both the confidence that she could do it properly without being told so much, and a slight sense of independence. Sensing this, I decided to leave it entirely up to her for a while.

A few days later, she showed me the finished illustration with her usual smile, saying, "I'm done!"

It was a huge banner, easily the size of a tatami mat. In the center was a woman with a refreshing smile, her hair blowing in the wind, and in the background, many colorful flowers were in full bloom. The touch of each flower, the delicate depiction, the vivid colors, and the unique expression were far beyond the level of an amateur, to the point where I thought even I couldn't draw something so beautiful.

The girl was still smiling as always. I suddenly wondered if she might have worked as a manga artist's assistant before, given her technical proficiency, but I didn't ask. Certainly, the technical perfection was remarkable. However, at the same time, I felt it was slightly lacking in intense impact or any standout features. Even so, I was genuinely impressed that she could draw something like this at her young age.

The scene changed, and suddenly, a computer screen appeared before my eyes. On it was displayed a concept for a new type of blog site that would aggregate information from various blog sites into one place.
