Time to Put Learning into Words🌱 We Have Started Lightning Talk Sessions

Hello! This is Tsunoda from the Integrate Public Relations team.
At Integrate, we carry out various initiatives with the goal of revitalizing interaction among employees.
One new initiative we started this year is the "Lightning Talk Session."
In this post, I would like to introduce how the first session went.

What is a Lightning Talk?

A lightning talk, derived from the word "lightning," is a presentation method conducted within a limited time of about 3 to 5 minutes. Originally used at IT conferences and engineer study groups, it is now incorporated in a wide range of settings.

By the way, I thought it came from the word "light," and I misunderstood it to mean "let's have a casual talk!"
That interpretation was actually perfect for the atmosphere of this session, though...😳

The theme for the first session was "A Book I Recommend"

The theme for our memorable first session was "A Book I Recommend."
Three members known within the company as book lovers took the stage.
While the common theme was "A Book I Recommend," there were no restrictions on the genre.
Each speaker introduced content or author arguments that left an impression from the books they had read, and shared their own thoughts and interpretations.

With a wide range of genres including business books, film theory, and manga, each presentation reflected the unique perspectives and values of the speakers.

Seeing "the person" through books

Employees from various departments participated as listeners on the day.
Time was set aside after each presentation for impressions and questions, and with various opinions exchanged among participants, the venue was wrapped in a friendly atmosphere from start to finish.

At the same time, what was impressive was,
"This person thinks about things from this perspective," or "They value this way of thinking."
Getting a glimpse of their "character" in this way.
By learning about facets that are hard to see through work interactions alone, mutual understanding deepens, and subsequent communication becomes smoother.
Conversations not bound by the theme also emerged after the presentations, making it a place for natural interaction.

Toward an organization that can share intellectual curiosity

Integrate is home to members with various interests and backgrounds, and each person's perspective and intellectual curiosity are demonstrated in their work.
The Lightning Talk Session is one opportunity to touch upon each other's interests and values, regardless of department or role.
By putting our thoughts and learning into words and sharing them, we hope to make our daily communication richer,
and we intend to continue growing the Lightning Talk Session into an even better space.
