We are starting the third trial to create a system where creators receive appropriate compensation when their note posts are provided as AI training data.
Previous pilot programsThank you for the many applications! To allow a wider range of people to participate this time, we are targeting those who have not received compensation in the previous two rounds.
We look forward to your applications as we aim to balance "advancement in AI technology" with "protecting creators' works."
Trial Flow
1. Register your note account via the form.
2. Content posted on note becomes a candidate for AI developer training.
3. The compensation amount is determined based on certain criteria and provided via Amazon Gift Card.

Reason for this project
Under current Japanese copyright law, generative AI developers are proceeding with training based on the understanding that using copyrighted works for AI training does not, in principle, constitute copyright infringement. On the other hand, there are opinions such as "works are being used for AI training without permission" and "creators should be paid appropriate compensation," and some view that there is not yet sufficient consensus in terms of law and practice.
For the note community to be a place where everyone can publish the works they have created with peace of mind, we believe the following two things are necessary.
Being able to choose whether or not to have your work used for AI training (Intent Declaration Feature).
Receiving appropriate compensation if your work is used for AI training.
Services that have realized a system for receiving compensation for AI training are still rare globally, and we are in a trial-and-error phase ourselves. We want to find the best method while engaging in dialogue with all of you!

Application period: May 15, 2025 (Thu) - May 18, 2025 (Sun)
Compensation amount determination date: Scheduled for the end of May 2025
Compensation date: Scheduled for June 2025

Eligible Creators
Those who have a note account
Those who applied to participate in the trial within the specified period
Applications are accepted per creator. Applications cannot be made on a per-work basis.

Those who did not receive compensation in the first or second pilot experiments
In future experiments, those who were not eligible this time may become eligible.

Content subject to AI training
Only text content is eligible. Images such as photos and illustrations, videos, audio, and files are not eligible.
Paid articles (including paid magazines and subscription magazines) and membership-exclusive articles are also eligible.

Scope and Purpose of Training
Used for reinforcement learning to improve the quality of AI services
Primarily used to improve reasoning, phrasing, and conversational quality
It is not intended for the imitation or copying of specific works or authors

Compensation Amount and Method
Compensation will be provided via Amazon Gift Cards
The compensation amount will be determined based on specific criteria
Eligible creators will be contacted via the email address registered to their note account
Depending on the content, there may be cases where no revenue is generated
