We are waiting for your unique experience articles! Daily Portal Z and note are co-hosting the submission contest "#YattemitaTaisho"!
Daily Portal Z and note are co-hosting an article submission contest called "#YattemitaTaisho" (The "I Tried It" Grand Prix). Outstanding entries will be featured on Daily Portal Z as winning works, and it might even be your chance to debut as a writer!
The theme for submissions is "I tried it." This refers to articles where you challenged yourself with something new, experienced something, listened to someone's story, or simply "enjoyed the outside world" in your own way. For the #YattemitaTaisho, we are looking for articles that detail your real-life experiences.
Daily Portal Z, our co-host for this contest, is a long-standing media outlet that has published many highly original articles. Editor-in-Chief Yuji Hayashi shares his thoughts on the call for entries:
I once spoke to a craftsman who had worked in printing for over 40 years. He told me that when he turned 60, he quit his job as a craftsman and started working as a building cleaner. When I asked him how that job was, he said,
"It was fun! I should have come here sooner."
Unexpected. I thought he would say he missed his craft, but instead, he was laughing and saying his new job was the best!
The real world is full of unexpected things; things don't always add up, and foreshadowing isn't always resolved. But that's what makes it so engaging. You can never write it all down.
Listening to stories, making things, going places, eating things... the results are usually different from what you expect. Please write about those moments—the confusion, the surprise, the stubborn thinking that there must be something more, the sulking, or the going to bed in a huff.
When we talk about expression, it feels like you have to write about yourself, but depending on what you notice in the real world and how you write about it, you will naturally emerge within the work.
I am looking forward to works that enjoy the unexpected.
The world of "I tried it" expands as much as there are creators. "I'm probably the only one who would try something this geeky..." Such episodes are most welcome. Please feel free to submit your work.
