Experimenting with features that expand the scope of creation on note, such as ruby and trending sections! A summary of August's improvement measures

To make note a more user-friendly place, we are implementing improvement measures every day. In this article, we will summarize the "Trending" section display, ruby functionality, and web push notifications that were released during August.

We will also report on the second episode of our audio broadcast, where we respond to some of the feedback received in the "Improvement Suggestion Box" that started last month!

■ We are starting an experiment to display "Trends" on note!

To help spark ideas and inspiration, we have started displaying popular hashtags within note as “Trending Hashtags” on the home screen. This will allow you to see in real-time what everyone is talking about on note. We will continue to review the display methods and how articles are selected so that we can provide trends that are more characteristic of note.

■ We are starting an experiment to use "ruby" in note articles!

You can now experimentally use the “ruby (furigana) function” in the note editor. (As this is an experimental stage, it is currently available to creators with a note premium membership.)
When we had note CXO Fukatsu write an article using ruby, we received a lot of feedback! Based on that, the improvement team reviewed it and decided to proceed with full-scale improvements.

■ We provided an interim report on the new editor improvements

note is planning an upgrade to the editor (article creation screen) around this autumn. Ahead of that, we released a beta version to note premium members on July 7th. Based on the feedback we received from those who actually used it, we have revised the content of the new editor. We are sharing this as an interim report.

■ Changed the name of the "Improvement Suggestion Box" to "Feedback"

The "Improvement Suggestion Box" is where you can send opinions to the management team when there are features you want added or improved on note. However, we realized that many people felt that "even though I took the trouble to give my opinion, it wasn't heard." Because we want to exchange opinions flatly to make note better, we changed the name from "Suggestion Box," which has the image of posting things you want to say secretly, to “Feedback”.

At the same time, we started an audio broadcast program where we list the number and content of feedback in this monthly article and discuss improvements openly!

■ We are also making various other improvements

・If you have your PC open, you can now receive notifications via "Web push notifications" even if you don't have note open.

・Following image articles, we now also display the number of images in text articles.

・When you enter search keywords, hashtags now also appear as candidates.

・The magazine list below articles is now easier to scroll.

・It is now easier to search for notes by filtering by creator name

■ The smartphone app has also become even easier to use

The smartphone app is also becoming increasingly easier to use. In August, we updated the following points.

[iOS]
・Contest information is now displayed on hashtag pages.
・After publishing an article, you can now share it on social media immediately.

[Android]
・You can now select "All" or "Following" on the top page.
・A "Discover" tab has been added to the bottom. You can now access various content.
・If you enter a hashtag (e.g., #thingsIlikedaboutnote) in a text article, that hashtag will now be automatically added when the article is published.

■ We are starting a community called "Learning to Create Together"!

With the desire to explore what we can do together to continue creating, we are opening an online community for a limited time until the end of February 2022. If you want to "get better at creating," "learn about everyone's tips," or "make your experience useful to someone else," please use this as a place to post information and know-how to each other.
