Get your articles to readers around the world! Automatic multilingual support starts on May 27
Starting Wednesday, May 27, 2026, we are launching "automatic multilingual support," which allows you to deliver articles written in Japanese to readers around the world as they are.
This will expand opportunities for your content to be discovered through overseas search results and social media, making it easier for your content to reach a wider audience of readers.

In conjunction with the provision of this feature, we will be partially revising the note Terms of Use effective Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
Creators can choose for themselves whether or not to make their content eligible for multilingual support. If you do not wish to have your content translated, you can change your settings at any time.
As a preparation period for all creators, we have set up a window from today until Wednesday, May 27, during which you can configure whether or not to translate your content. If you wish to exclude your content from multilingual support, please change your settings on the settings screen (instructions on how to do so are provided in the latter half of this article).
What expands with automatic multilingual support
Increased chances of being read by people around the world
Overseas readers will be able to read your articles even if they do not know Japanese.
Articles will appear in overseas search results
The likelihood of being discovered by readers searching in languages other than Japanese will increase.
Easier to be introduced by AI services overseas
Opportunities for your articles to be introduced or referenced overseas through AI will increase.
Things you should know
Automatic multilingual support is an initiative that utilizes generative AI. Due to its nature, the following may occur:
There may be mistranslations or nuances that are not fully conveyed
Due to the characteristics of AI-based automatic translation, expressions may not be exactly the same as the original text.
There is a possibility of misunderstandings arising from translation results
Content may be perceived differently than the author's original intent.
Unintended reactions or discussions may occur due to cultural differences
Because the way words are perceived varies by country and culture, unintended feedback or discussions may occur.
If you are concerned about these points, you can turn off the automatic multilingual support setting.
How to set or change multilingual support
The "Automatic article translation" setting is turned ON by default.
If you wish to exclude your content from multilingual support, please turn it OFF using the following steps.
* You can change this from either a web browser or the iOS/Android app (please update the app to the latest version before use).
If you want to change the setting for your entire account
1) Select [Settings] from your creator icon in the top right.

2) Check [ Automatic article translation ] under Article Settings. The default setting is ON (green), so if you want to exclude your content from multilingual support, switch it to OFF (gray).

If you want to change the setting for individual articles
This is how to configure settings if you have automatic translation enabled for your entire account but want to exclude specific articles.
1) Open the article you want to exclude from automatic translation and select [ Proceed to publish ] in the top right of the editor screen.

2) In the article's detailed settings, switch [ Automatic article translation ] to OFF (gray).

For detailed setup instructions and frequently asked questions, please see the help page About 'Automatic Multilingual Support', and for details on the revisions to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, please see the announcement.
Our efforts so far and the road ahead
Our efforts for multilingual support on note began in January 2026.
Content created in Japan is attracting interest from overseas, but the reality is that text-based content has not yet reached its full potential due to language barriers. Every day, note hosts a diverse range of content that only the authors can write, including essays, novels, business insights, and corporate stories. To deliver these works to readers around the world, we have been working on multilingual support initiatives utilizing AI.
After repeated test runs, we began verification in March 2026, focusing on articles by creators who applied for early access.
We are currently accumulating knowledge regarding translation accuracy, how the content is read, and reactions from overseas, while preparing for the official release on May 27th.
We will start with English and plan to expand to other languages in the future. We are also considering support for paid articles and membership-exclusive articles.
note's mission is to "ensure that anyone can start and continue creating." Through automatic multilingual support, we will help creators' works cross language barriers to reach readers worldwide, thereby fulfilling our mission.
