For soliciting experiences, impressions, and works. How to start a submission project that gathers participants
A "submission project" is where anyone can participate by adding a hashtag to their own article in response to a theme announced by the organizer.Projects hosted by note aside, there is an increasing number of "independent submission projects" by creators such as individuals and companies.
For example, by soliciting impressions on works such as books, live performances, movies, anime, and games on note, there are cases where these are used for future work creation or where fan voices are utilized for promotion.
This time, we will introduce creator-led submission projects and the ingenuity that organizers are using to liven up their projects.
※Updated April 30, 2024
Point 1) Set an easy-to-understand hashtag
If you want many creators to participate, setting a hashtag that anyone can feel free to write about will make it easier for submissions to gather. Also, by including keywords that creators who seem interested in the project might choose as related hashtags, it will catch the eyes of creators who do not know about the submission project, providing an opportunity for more people to participate in the project.

creators with a high interest in YOASOBI
will be more likely to notice the submission project
■Bungeishunju digital "#Essay on Abandoning a Cat"
Haruki Murakami held the "Haruki Murakami 'Abandoning a Cat' Essay Contest" as a special project to commemorate the publication of his non-fiction book, "Abandoning a Cat: What I Talk About When I Talk About My Father," which he announced in the monthly magazine Bungeishunju and became a hot topic. The hashtag uses the book title as is. Works selected by editors were introduced on the special site for "Abandoning a Cat," spreading as a success story for creators. This is an example that became a meaningful initiative for book promotion as well.
On the other hand, if you are holding it with the thought of "I want to think deeply about this theme rather than the number of submissions," it is recommended to make it a hashtag that clearly conveys the theme.
■Gekidan No Meets "#My Choice in 2020"
Gekidan No Meets, which launched on April 9, 2020, with the catchphrase "A dense moment without density," pursues the possibilities of theater online. On the occasion of the performance of "Even So, If You Can Laugh" at the end of 2020, they held it as a submission project to look back on 2020, which was a special year. The judges were Kotaro Abe and Masahiko Katsuse, and the work selected for the Grand Prix was turned into a short film by No Meets.
Point 2) Convey the reason and thoughts for holding the submission project in the announcement article
It is also important to inform more people about the holding of the project. By continuing to post about themes related to your daily life, the influence of your account will increase, and the appeal effect when holding a project will also become stronger.
Also, "why this theme is being held on this account" being clear is one of the points that makes it easier to write. All of the submission projects introduced this time have published articles that convey the reasons and thoughts for holding the project, along with the application method and application period, when holding it.
When you see a submission project, if you understand "why this hashtag," it becomes easier to write, and submissions that empathize with the organizer's thoughts are more likely to gather.
■Maiko Atsumi "#New Moon Viewing"
Maiko Atsumi, who continues to post about "food." In the "New Moon Viewing Project," which conveys the goodness of "moon viewing" where you can enjoy a shared experience even from a distance, she held a submission project with the thought that if there is an opportunity to write an article, the number of opportunities to look at the moon might increase. The results were announced at the "Moon Viewing Party," an event held online on the autumn equinox.
Actually, hosting an event was my first experience. I was confused at first, but because note is easy to co-create, I was able to create it smoothly.
Having strategy meetings with members, thinking about the overall design of the event... I realized that creating an event together is so creative and requires strategy.
I want to take on new challenges with my friends for this year's moon viewing as well. (Maiko Atsumi)
Point 3) Create a "gimmick" that makes people want to submit
There are various patterns of incentives to increase motivation for submission, not limited to prize money or prizes. "What is something that would make the submitting creator happy?" If you think about that, you might come up with an unexpected gimmick.
■KIRIN/Poplar Publishing "#Late Night Snacks"
A contest that became a hot topic as the first corporate account collaboration project on note. The winning works were published in the paperback edition of "Late Night Snacks" published by Poplar Publishing. A project where your submission might become a book is very dreamy, isn't it?
■ YOASOBI Official note "#UTYOASOBI Live"
On the YOASOBI official note, they collected live reports from viewers of the online concerts streamed in February and July 2021. In the announcement article on note, they provided guidance on using screenshots taken during the online concert and sharing photos of the concert on the official YOASOBI Twitter. Enthusiastic posts from fans were submitted.
Point 4) Provide materials for articles
When materials that can be used for article header images or within the body text are provided, it becomes easier for creators to write articles, lowering the barrier to participating in the submission project.
For example, note has a feature called "Minna no Photo Gallery". This is a feature that allows other creators to use images posted on note as header images for their own articles. If you register photos in Minna no Photo Gallery, when other creators use them as header images, a link to the registered account is also displayed, so you can expect traffic to the official account from the contributor's page.
■ Movie "Rurouni Kenshin" Official note "#RurouniKenshinFinalChapter"
To commemorate the release of the movie "Rurouni Kenshin: The Final," the official note account collected impressions of the movie. They also uploaded images posted from this account to note's "Minna no Photo Gallery" so they could be used freely when posting. Posts overflowing with love for "RuroKen" were gathered.
In addition to header images, you can also distribute image data for the body text, as in the project below. When images can be used within articles, the articles themselves become more vibrant, making it easier for creators to enjoy participating in the project.
■ Bushiroad Official note "#BanG Dream Anime MyGO Impression Contest"
We held a contest to collect impressions and thoughts on the anime "BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!!" which was broadcast and streamed every Thursday on TOKYO MX/ABEMA and other platforms. Scene cut images that could be used when posting impressions to note were also distributed on the Bushiroad official note. Posts filled with thoughts on the work and characters were submitted one after another.
* For detailed information on how to use Minna no Photo Gallery and how to register images, please see the help page "Utilizing 'Minna no Photo Gallery' for header images".
Point 5) Introduce collected articles on note and SNS
Once the project has started, read as many of the collected articles as possible, and try to introduce posts you think are "wonderful" on your own note or SNS that you manage, even during the submission period. This deepens interaction with the creators who posted and makes it easier to convey that you are holding a submission project.note's magazine feature can be used to summarize the collected posts, making them even easier to understand.
■ Marina Aburamori "#I wrote this while drinking"
This project by Marina Aburamori, who writes essays and novels on note, is already in its 8th iteration. It shows more excitement with each passing time. It was spread on Twitter, mainly by the creators who posted, and it is said that more and more people are using the hashtag without knowing it is a regularly held event. Using an easy-to-understand hashtag may have been a reason for its popularity.
The "Nomikaki Sakeba" (a name born from a typo in a project entry), also known as the online note tavern, is already two years old. Thanks to regulars and first-timers mingling and getting drunk in their own unique ways, it has grown into a relaxed place. I dream that "Nomikaki" will become a seasonal event in the future that starts automatically in multiples of three months without the organizer having to announce it. (Marina Aburamori)
