Announcing the results of the Manga Original Story Award held by "Shonen Jump+" and "note"! #JumpPlusOriginalStoryAward

This was a powerful work with a unique combination of magical girls and the drug business. It did not hold back on developments from the beginning, the hooks at the end of each chapter were skillful, and I felt the effort put into drawing the reader in. I would like to see this aim to be a highly satisfying buddy story by digging deeper into the inner lives of the main characters, Sumii and Riri, clarifying the fun of their interactions, and incorporating episodes that deepen their relationship.

This work skillfully incorporated reality into a creative world, and the story was structured in a way that would draw readers in. Considering whether the appeal of this work would increase when it becomes a manga with illustrations, I felt it might have been better to think about the development from the perspective of visual direction. I felt there was sufficient power to create a worldview, so next time, I would like you to think of a work that becomes even more rewarding to read when shown through pictures.

Thank you for the many submissions to the "Shonen Jump+ × note Original Story Award". Every submitted work showed sparkling ingenuity, individuality, and passion. Among them, the "Shonen Jump+" editorial department focused on the perspective of "whether it is a one-of-a-kind manga original story that makes us feel we want a manga artist to draw it, even though manga artists can create stories themselves." In that respect, we awarded the Grand Prize to "Magical Girl and the Drug War" because we could evaluate the planning behind the combination of seemingly different settings like magical girls, organized crime groups, and drug enforcement officers.

Many story works are posted on note every day, and they span various genres. This time, too, we received many works incorporating unique ideas across a wide range of genres, including romance, battle, fantasy, and mystery. The three points note focused on for judging were: "Can you imagine the characters' personalities through pictures?", "Originality of the setting", and "Is it a work that makes you want to read the continuation?". Both winning works met these points and were works we wanted to see in manga form. The original text is also a rewarding read, so if you haven't read it yet, please do.
