A huge yellowtail arrived via hometown tax donation
What arrived this time was a yellowtail from Nagashima Town, Kagoshima Prefecture. It's the last one for my 2025 hometown tax donations.
This yellowtail isn't just any yellowtail. It is the brand yellowtail farmed in Nagashima Town called '鰤王' (Yellowtail King) .

This overwhelming presence is worthy of the name 'Yellowtail King'.
I wanted to try it so badly that even though it was 1 AM when I opened it, I started filleting it right away.
I had never filleted a fish before, but the Nagashima Town Fisheries Cooperative had posted a video on YouTube on how to do it, so I was able to manage without any particular trouble. Even if I didn't do it very skillfully.

That day, I made sashimi and namero.
For the namero, I combined the yellowtail with ginger and miso and just kept chopping it up.

It was the best. The sashimi was fatty and delicious.
It was my first time having yellowtail namero, and it was surprisingly delicious. I even wrapped it in seaweed for a luxurious touch. I really want anyone who orders this to try making namero. You won't be able to stop eating it.
It was a satisfying experience that made me not regret starting the work so late at night.
The next day, I made yellowtail and daikon radish stew.

It was delicious not just raw, but also when cooked. There was no fishy smell or dryness, and my one-year-old daughter was eating it with great enthusiasm.
I forgot to take pictures of the rest, but I also enjoyed fish scrap soup and seared yellowtail.
The Yellowtail King is quite fatty, so if it starts to feel a bit heavy, searing it is a good way to let some of the fat drip off, making it easier to eat.
The fish scrap soup was delicious without a doubt.
The 'Yellowtail King' from Nagashima Town, Kagoshima Prefecture. Since a huge yellowtail arrives, you can enjoy it in many different ways.
I couldn't do yellowtail shabu-shabu this time, so I definitely want to do it next time no matter what.
Filleting it is a bit of a hassle, but it's so delicious that you won't even care.
Everyone, please give it a try.
